Beautiful! You look younger in the after picture than you do in the before!

Good work!

Don't worry about the tooth that has moved, the retainer will push it around to where it belongs, once you get it.

I had a lower incisor that moved the second I was debanded. I had an essex retainer to straighten that out and once it was in place again, I got my bonded lower that is holding it there. It really is scarey how our teeth just don't want to sit still!

My teeth were also sore for a while after I got the braces off. It took a few months before I could bite a carrot with my front teeth without discomfort.

Right now I have an upper central incisor that has moved even with constent retainer wear so that's being moved with just the wire of the (hawley) retainer. It's working beautifully.

Enjoy!!!

I think you look younger too. It's partly the teeth and partly the modern haircut, I think.
Either way, you look great. I hope the retainer soon does its job of pushing that stubborn tooth into line.

From what I've read (no personal experience) the retainer will help move that tooth back into place.

Got my retainers. The top one feels like a big wad of bubble gum stuck in the top of my mouth. I sound like a dork though my ortho assures me that after practicing talking for a few hours I'll be back to normal. I don't think so! I will take pictures tonight. Mine doesn't look like anything I've seen posted here. Much thicker in the roof of my mouth than I expected.

Thanks KK. I forgot about the Rainbow Passage. I didn't really need it after my surgery, but I surely do now!

I'm interested in seeing that retainer photo. I'd no idea how different they could all be.

Click on thumbnails for larger picture.

My upper retainer looks like a modified Hawley.

Image

My lower retainer is a spring retainer and just sits on my lower social six.

According to this link:

[quote]Spring retainers combine the principles of Hawley-type retainers with those of the tooth positioners. A working model is required on which the teeth are aligned. The traditional spring retainer was a sectional appliance using .028â€

More pics.

Tried to give you a view of my upper retainer and how much space it covers.

Image

Full front...you can see both retainers. Sorry about the saliva bubbles in my lower retainer.

Nice blue on your Hawley! :D

Your lower retainer is interesting...I never cease to be amazed how different all of our retainers and wear times are.
