I have to admit, I think I will definitely have trouble getting used to that device. The one the ortho showed me was a little different looking that the one in your mouth (it actually looked more bulky..oh boy!), and I was just thinking, "wow that's gonna suck!" I go 9/14 to get my xrays, impressions, & spacers, then I go back on 9/25. I guess by then I'll have a better idea of what the plan will be.
Your progress looks like it's going really well. You must be really happy with the results so far!
An update after my adjustment: I got a stronger wire on the bottom, same wire left on top. My expander is still in; ortho said he had to wait until I got a stronger wire on top that can "hold the arch length." The exciting part is that I got a spring on the bottom to separate the two teeth and bring forward one tooth. It hurt like Hell when the assistant was putting it on; she was having difficulties getting the thing threaded through. But it eventually was placed. I'm looking forward to the tooth being brought forward.

Your teeth are looking really great! I bet that wayward tooth on the bottom will be in its place in no time! I'm also impressed with how white your teeth are - did you do something before you got braced, or is that just your natural color?

Braced 5/19/06 - Full Metal Mouth!
Went topless 07/27/07!
Totally NAKED 08/30/07!
Thanks, all! I'm excited to get the bottom teeth straightened and begin working on my bite.
Jillianleab-It's the natural tooth color. I haven't whitened my teeth mainly because one of my top front teeth is a crown & I think if I did whitening all the other teeth would look super white but that tooth would remain somewhat off-white (since it cannot be whitened).

Wowie! Your teeth are looking so great! I'm so happy for you! pretty soon your smile is going to be so very pretty
I have a queston... What are your brackets called?..... (the white things that are glued right to ur teeth.....there brackets right? hehe) I've never seen any thing like them before! I thought they only had metal.. thx
artist_appeal_791,
They are ceramic brackets. I think there are different brands of ceramic brackets but I'm not exactly sure what brand these are. I haven't had any problems with them so far (none have fallen off, etc.).
Good luck with your brace day!

Jen,
After seeing your post from yesterday with the pictures, your brackets look remarkably like mine. I've got SpiritMB's which are made from Composite which look exactly like Ceramic and are made by Ormco.Just a thought.

Here is an updated picture of my lower teeth. I had the spring wire put on a few weeks ago. My next appointment is Oct. 31, and I'm really hoping that there is enough space created between my lower teeth to start moving the wayward tooth forward.
What do you think?
Here's a pic from before the spring wire:
