Front tooth hurts (Root Canal)

#1 Post by NSolano »

I have not posted here in a while, but to make it short, I got a root canal on my front right tooth because I had some trauma there back in May. I got the root canal at the end of June. For some reason my tooth has been a little sensitive to pressure, and sometimes flossing in between teh front. I thought it was normal since my dentist said it would take some time for it to heal or something. They also said that the root canal was done perfect (I got it done by an endodontist, so my dentist did not do the procedure)
I have just restarted my invasalign treatment today and my tooth hurts a lot. I guess the pressure of the aligners have triggered the pain. When I take off the aligner it does not hurt all, except for when I push on it and apply pressure. I am assuming that the root canal was either not done right or something is wrong. I am going to call for an appointment tomorrow to get it checke do out. Anyone experience anything similar to this relating a root canal?? thanks

Orthodontic pain is from the remodeling of the PDL and associated support structure of the tooth. A root canal removes the nerve and blood supply inside the tooth and seals off the tooth from the body to prevent a future immune response. So just because you have pain doesn't mean the RCT was done improperly. I would guess you are feeling normal orthodontic pain and not anything associate with your RCT, although a radiograph and exam would be necessary to know for sure.

Rory, excuse my ignorance, but what does PDL stand for?
