speedbumps falling off?

#1 Post by Coco212 »

Well I got my first set of trays (out of 8) yesterday and I'm very pleased so far, however I just realized that one of the speedbumps on a lower canine fell off. Does this commonly happen? Will the trays not work properly until I get the bump replaced?

Hi,

No it is not common for them to fall off. It is the same thing as having a bracket fall off with traditional braces. You want to contact your dentist/ortho sooner rather than later and have it replaced. Otherwise you run the risk of delaying your treatment or having fit problems with future aligners.

Regards,
Rory

Thanks for your response! I called the dentist and got an appointment first thing this morning so it's all taken care of. I don't really get the point of the speedbumps haha, do they actually help the aligners push your teeth? I guess I should have asked the dentist, lol!

And I just noticed that in my first post- the smiley face was supposed to be and '8'. Don't know how that happened.
