I've just had braces fitted on Monday and I can't talk. All my words turn out wrong. My face looks strange too. I've had twin block braces fittedI'm meant to be going back to school on Monday. Will I be able to talk by then?

The more you practice the better your speech will get. Try singing to the radio, talking to yourself when you're alone, reading out loud etc etc - anything to get yourself used to talking with the appliance in.
Also remember that your speech will sound much worse to you than to anyone else.
I've been talking to myself a lot lol I'll read random road signs and the backs of food packages just to practice talking. I'm sure my dog thinks I'm nuts. I keep talking to her lol I just say the rainbow thingy a bit ago so I printed it and am practicing with that. Good luck.
If I recall correctly, my speech was improved quite a bit after 1 week, and somewhere around weeks 2 and 3 it went back to (very close to) normal. I still struggle with the occassional word, but 99% of the time I talk like my old self.
Try singing with the radio. I had no problem when first fitted but with my bite opening up, I find there's times I lisp. Also, if oyu have wax on your arch wire that may cause a lisp.

I wore braces (this time) for 1294 days or 3 years, 6 months and 17 days.
But who's counting?
