How do the aligners move teeth?
If someone has an overbite/overjet, how exactly do the aligners move the teeth? I have both and I've noticed my upper teeth haven't really moved even though im halfway through treatment. My bottom teeh have shifted so obviously its working. Is it possible that my teeth are being moved back to correct the overbite then the gaps closing? I have my molar removed btw.
I actually have an appoint. in a couple days w/ my orho so I can discuss my questions with my him but I just wanted some input from others.
thanks.

from the sounds of it u are n the same boat as me I had to have 4 teeth removed to create some space although not many people using invisalign seem to have had teeth removed, anyway my ortho explained to me that for the first 10 months the only movement would be my molars which is what has happened but I have noticed that the molars have widened my arch so my face looks less gaunt than at the start, so its not all bad and now im in the good phase where the front is starting to move I think u just have to be patient

I noticed on my clincheck that my front teeth don't move much during the first half of my treatment. They move the molars and everything but the front teeth to widen the arch and make space for the front teeth to move back into. I'm a little concerned about looking bucky during this process but I trust that Invisalign knew how it needed to be done. I'm crossing my fingers!
I finally figured out how to see my clincheck, my ortho actually sent me a password for his site in the beginning. Anyhoo, it shows my upper teeth don't move much at all. It'll only widen my arch, correct some of the overjet and straighten the teeth. My bottom teeth are moving great so far and they should be straight by the end. Although I'll probably need more refinement for the uppers.
EDIT: here is my clincheck.

Re: How do the aligners move teeth?
Aligners are simply a tool to apply controlled force in certain directions on certain teeth. If you push on a tooth it will cause it to move. Theoretically if you took your finger and pushed on your incisor eventually it would move. It would hurt your finger, but it would workIf someone has an overbite/overjet, how exactly do the aligners move the teeth? It seems my bite is being "opened" as you said. My upper arch has widened and overjet has been reduced. I'm so happy its working because you hear so many unsuccessful cases. I'm on my 15th aligner btw.rsprouse wrote:Aligners are simply a tool to apply controlled force in certain directions on certain teeth. If you push on a tooth it will cause it to move.
