Ken, you might just be surprised, when you get into powerchains, that they are not painful. I have been wearing them for months (you can't really tell in my avatar but I'm wearing one currently as well) and I've never had any real pain from them!

Of course, I also haven't had the quick results that some people have (where their gaps close in a matter of hours or days) so the experience is just so individual. I just wanted to say don't dread powerchains, because they will do great things in your treatment, and you may be one of those who don't experience much discomfort from them. :)

Hey, where are those pics you said you would put up soon?! :-(*

So, will the next appointment be your introduction to the dreaded 'chain gang'? It's not that bad, I promise! The movement is worth it!

I've been reading your story Ken. Looks like you've got some good progress so far. Can't wait to see some recent pics up. I thankfully didn't have to get any power chains this time around so I was able to get my alternating red and green :D Good luck with your adjustment on the 11th. You have a lot of patience... admire you for that!

Great colours for Christmas. I love the little flashy thingies that you insert in your messages too. Where do you find them all?

Mac and cheese is an excellent choice. I had that for dinner tonight as well. Overcooked the noodles a little, and I was good to go. That's the hardest thing I've eaten since yesterday.

Amazing how something so pretty can cause so much pain, huh? Kind of like a jellyfish or something.

I'm currently dulling the pain with vicodin, so no booze for me. Actually, today I had both mouth pain AND a migraine, so I went home early from work and called the pharmacy to make sure I could take my migraine meds with the vicodin. Then, took both and passed out on the couch for 4 hours. Image

Glad you are having a good attitude about this. Try not to worry too much about the 3 week schedule. Sure, it's an inconvenience, but on the other hand you get to have your ortho keep a good eye on you. More visits for your money, right?

OMG Ken! That is so cool, you are much more brave than me. Wouldn't it be cool if you could light them up! BTW, good progress!

I love those festive colors, Ken!

Three week adjustments are GREAT! I love them, and even though those power chains will make you :-= , they'll be great. The tenderness should ease quite a bit for you pretty soon if it hasn't already, Ken. I've got a powerchain in now and it took me about a week for the tenderness to lessen, though this time when they put the powerchain it I swore I would be having to eat mac and cheese for the rest of the time I had this in, lol! So what I was trying to say is, the tenderness probably won't last the whole three weeks for ya.

ALSO, no harm in letting your ORTHO know you don't want to speed through everything. I bet he gets the exact opposite of that from most of his patients!

Hi Ken, sorry for missing a few pages

And sorry to hear that you have pain from those powerchains, but they are effective at least! And look great in their Xmas colours  Nice pics, thanks for posting!
I am also in the 3 weeks schedule since the beginning of my treatment and the good thing in it is that time goes by so quickly! Which is not good as I am getting older unfortunately, but from the braces point of view, it is great! I like it, as my ortho always finds out some new gadget for me

I think you are the emoticons king of this site, your thread is so much fun to read  And now you combine it with you voices like Forrest Gump

I hope your teeth will be ok for Xmas and let you eat whatever you like to!

See you later! 8)

Yes Ken this time of the year is very busy in work and in family as well.

Great that things are getting better with your powerchains! It is good you like pasta so you always find something soft to eat :) I also like it very much and usually I have dinner in an Italian restaurant as it is the best around my office  But it is not so good for my shape

What do you usually have for Xmas dinner? We have some kind of fish, mainly fish soup and turkey as well and a special Xmas cake with poppy seeds which I love and can have only this time of the year so I almost cannot wait

See you later! 8) Antsika
