another nervous newbie

#1 Post by Krow »

Hi Guys,
Thank goodness for this site. I will get spacers on Jan 17 and braces on Jan 29th. I have to go tomorrow to get a gold crown removed from one of my upper front teeth. That was the fix for my teeth instead of getting braces when I was a teenager. I had a gold crown put on that also filled the gap I had in my two front teeth. I have always wanted to get braces to correct that. Well now Im going to do it. The crazy thing about is, although I have wanted to get this gold crown removed for a long time, I kind of feel scared because now it will show the real size of my gap and how bad my teeth look. Oh well, I cant wait until the 29th to get my braces on but still Im nervous. I am a mess right now, but thanks to this site I will be alright.

Hello Krow,

I want to wish you first of all A HAPPY NEW YEAR and I hope everything goes like you want in 2007.

About the feeling before getting braced, that is pretty normal. 8)
If you read around you can tell that everybody was very anxious, nervous about getting them, but after you get them all those feelings will dissappear.
Believe me coz I was one of those people.

I wish you all the best on the 29th and we will keep in touch.

Bye...Marvin

PS: remember to rinse with warm salt water every night beginning today, it helps the inside of your mouth.

Well the crown has been removed. I am now sporting a temporary crown. To my surprise it looks much better than I thought It would. Much more natural looking. I will post pics of things as they progress.

Hey Krow,

I got mine yesterday (ceramic uppers) and was soooo nervous, but so far it's been absolutely fine! It seemed like such a big hurdle, but now they're on they're no big deal.

You'll probably actually feel great when you get them on, because you've finally gone for it and started the journey to great teeth!

Keep us posted.... :D

Spacers!

#6 Post by Sumendoza »

Krow,

i just had my spacers put in and have my appointment for braces on Wednesday. The spacer deal wasn't bad at all; the only thing is that they feel funny in your mouth cuz they are like having food between your teeth LOL!
I wish you the best... I am new to braces and this site too. Wish me luck! :?

It's so normal to be nervous! The spacers SUCK and will have you wondering why you are doing all this but trust me...it's only temporary an d the braces aren't as bad. Don't get me wrong your teeth will be sore and there will be pressure (it MAY cut your mouth - mine hasn't) but it's not that bad. I got my spacers on December 14th, bottom braces on the 20th, spacers will go back in on January 17th (same day as you) and RPE will go in the following week! Good luck and hope all goes well!

Hey y'all,
Just a quick update...... yesterday I had my spacers put in. Thankfully I only need four. I am not having any kind of pain, just the feeling that I have something (which I do) stuck between my teeth. Seems like the spacers will not put me through any agony. Lets keep our fingers crossed for the 29th when I step into the bracket club!

Good luck getting your braces on Krow. Everything will be just fine. I remember when I got mine on, I was nervous too. It was funny, there was a 10 year old kid in the chair next to me (I'm 35) telling me everything was going to be OK, and it was...
