Should I be satisfied? (pictures)

After about four and a half years of different devices and braces my ortho has finally decided to evaluate the possibility of removal of my braces at my next appointment. She also asked me to tell her if there are anything I would like to change before she removes them. So what do you think? Does it look finished? Would you have been satisfied?

I think your teeth look awesome...and I only have one question....you (like me) seem to have quite a bit of tissue between your upper front teeth...and it may just be the picture....?

No, its not just the picture.

I dont think its permanent though, as Ive been told by my orth its quite usual that the "mouth tissue" grows down between the brackets. If you look closely you'll probably see that its grown down a bit between other brackets too.

It would be helpful if there are before and after braces pictures to compare. Anyway, your teeth will look greater if the upper central incisors get a little bit of shaping to level their bite sides. I think your ortho can do it quickly. I agree with Kiwi, the more important question is about your bite.

Thank you, its nice to hear that its not a total catastrophe.

I had quite a severe overbite some years ago wich earlier braces corrected. Now I would say my bite is pretty usual. Slight "overbite" with my upper jaw. Maybe I misunderstood the question. Could add pictures.

Yeah, I just ask becuase I have tissue there and it has to be surgically removed....

New attempt. Tried to make my bite look as normal as possible but its quite hard to keep my mouth open enough to take good pictures. Included one normal and one alien-like.

I had a mild class III and my bite is currently about where your's looks to be in those pics ... biting surface to biting surface ... I'm aiming for a class I ... the correct bite type ... by my next appointment in February ... hoping and willing my teeth to make the right moves!

I dont know much about those different classes. But it sounds like your teeth are the complete opposite of what I had earlier. I could get a finger in between my top and lower teeh in their normal positions some years ago. My ortho thought that was quite extreme.

I wish you speedy teeth movements.

My experience is that it goes very fast when they start to make bigger movements.

They look very good! You should be pleased and I bet your ortho is!

If the tissue can somehow be removed then I think that will make them look nicer. Also, I'd consider shaving the central incisor edges down or bonding, not sure which would be used in your case. Just to make the edges more neat.

As they are, they're a nice set of teeth anyway so it's no big deal.

I will ask my ortho about your suggestions next time. But I must say the thought of cutting away tissue is a little scary if thats whats needed to get rid of it.

I think your teeth look fantastic Hawking. Just a bit of shaping once the brace is off and maybe a bit of gum work..

Hey you guys mentioned gum reshaping, I know it's done by laser, but who does it, the ortho or your dentist?? I have an appointment with my dentist on the 23rd to inquire about having a tooth bonded, but should I also ask him about the gum reshaping or save it for the ortho?
