I got my upper and lower brackets and spacers yday. I find it really hard to chew anything on the sides. Its very sore around the spacers...

Hi Janster and welcome.

Spacers can feel a little sore for a few days, because they are moving your teeth enough for bands to be fitted round them.

Most people on here seem to agree that spacers are the most uncomfortable part of braces. If you can cope with them, then braces will be a breeze! The discomfort usually seems to lessen after 3 or 4 days.

Good luck and keep us posted on your progress.

Lisa

Hi, I had spacers for a total of 30 days and none of those days were pain free. It was a relief to get braces yesterday. It is true, if you can live through the spacers, the worse is over. Good luck!
