Hello Everyone

#1 Post by Dreamsmile »

Well, I think this will be the first of many posts. I am a 47 year old who has waited all her life to have nice teeth and a smile.
My braces go on on March 6 and surgery of both jaws later on. I have alot to learn about this journey, but I am very pleased to have found this site. Wow what great information!!
Sometimes I feel as though I am too old to have this done, but throughout the consults I found out I have sleep apnea. I thought waking up choking was what everyone did.My main motivation is that I am soo tired of being self conscience of my teeth. I have perfected the art of keeping my teeth covered. I wonder how it must feel to openly smile? I don't look forward to the surgery. But by then I will be armed with lots of info.
I'm so happy to have found this great resource and network of people.

Hi Dream Smile,
Good luck with your treatment. You'll find lots of great help and support here. I am 36 and thought that I would regret getting braces. But such is not the case. I know I'm going to love the end result; and you'll love your teeth too.

I cannot believe the info on this site. It is so cool seeing where people live.I never imagined so many adults were getting ortho work done.
This is a crazy week for me, I am getting my impressions done on Thurs.and trying to buy a business at the same time, and run my existing business as well. I get to relax in Toronto next weekend. Brace day is March 6th.I know I will grin ear to ear (after the pain subsides)when the braces are on.I will NOT be hiding these expensive pieces of metal. I want the world to know I am finally living my dream,..to smile!!

hi dreamsmile,
welcome! i think you have made the right decision to get braces, and you are never too old, im 30 and the reactions from people are only that of interest, no one has ever been horrible.
i am having lower jaw surgery in 6 days time! i was meant to have upper as well, but the braces have done quite a good job that i no longer need this, maybe this could happen to you too, you never know!
stay positive and whenever you need help, this is the place to be. :D

Welcome, Dreamsmile. I'm 42 and finally getting braced in a month. I've been telling my dentist for years that I want *chicklet teeth*, so I feel I'm living my dream too. I also keep telling myself that having a metal mouth with make me look younger.
