Well hi there, MM!
Yes, this month went by so much faster than the month that we had to wait to get braced...
And thank you! I can't wait for my adjustment, to change to those neon green and purple ligs. I go back and look at your colors all the time because I LOVE them!! :D

Sorry to hear you and your son are sick :( .
I am too! (cue twilight zone music)
Do we have to do EVERYTHING together? :P hehehe
Two of my girls and I have had this nasty cold, and I missed a day of work, which is why I took my 1 month progress pics yesterday.

Definitely looking forward to your update! Btw, I have 17-23 mos left.

Thanks, Linda! :) I am trying to learn how to be a little more perceptive of how my bite is changing, instead of focusing so much on seeing tangible movement. I think I can feel a difference, but then I wonder if they have always felt this way, I just never realized it.

Yes, Denise. Time is flying by for sure!!
And thanks for the advice for the smilies. I should have known that...

Lots of extra work involved, but there are some pretty cute ones! Even some rather...'grown up' ones!

Today I had my first adjustment, and oh what an adjustment it was!!
No new wire, but I got a powerchain on my top four teeth. The assistant said 'you're gonna be so surpised at how fast these things work, you'll probably see a huge difference when you wake up in the morning...' YAY!! They didn't have the colors I wanted, so I went with a plum-crazy purple chain and a seafoamish-green. It also appears that my right canine has rotated to a close-to-normal position, so there has been movement, and now I can actually see it. I'm just SO EXCITED!! :D     :rawk:
The biggest news of all was, I get my lowers in just three weeks!! I initially thought I'd have at least four or five months to wait, but the ortho said things are moving along faster than expected, so I'm ready for the lowers on May 2nd. The bad news, I have the dreaded SPACERS again. This time for THREE LONG WEEKS..... I also have about four battle wounds in my mouth. I had troubles with my upper contacts being almost too tight for the spacers, but the lowers were MUCH worse. The assistant kept slipping and snapping them and jabbing me under my tongue and lower gums with the tool. OUCH! :? The right lower closest to my bicuspid was the worst. She said it was probably the hardest time she's ever had putting spacers in. She tried with the normal teal ones that I have in the rest of the teeth, but she had to resort to a thinner blue one. And it's HUGE! It hangs half way out of my teeth! It's like a small rubber band for hair.
So, all in all, it was a great adjustment. Hopefully I will have a better experience with the spacers this time around!
I will post pics later tonight!

*edit
As I went back and read this, I realized I originally said that I got a powerchain on all four of my laterals. I meant all four incisors... DER

Thanks, Denise!! :D
I hope your battle wound doesn't turn into a worse canker sore, they are definitely no fun!
And it's nice to have someone to go through spacers with, even if it's only for a week

Yes, I'm quite happy KK! Image The chains are doing their job. Although, the pain is not enjoyable. My left lateral is SCREAMINGImage. There is definite movement, but not sure if you will be able to tell from pictures.
Here are some pictures!
Here are the bottom spacers... Notice the one blue spacer. It's HUGE.

Here's the pretty purple power chain...

And since you can't hardly see the green...

Heh... I knew you would, KK!!
There is movement for sure and I am so happy! I have always been able to touch my lower and upper laterals on the right side together, because of my bite, but never could on the left side and that was just one of those annoying little irritants. Now, the left upper and lower laterals DO touch! Although I found this out in a rather painful way. :? (Hitting them together)

My battle wounds are very sore today, so I've tried to be very diligent with the salt water rinses, as much as they sting...

It's just so great to have noticible progress!!

You're probably right, I don't really measure it, I just pour it in... enough to scarcely cover the bottom of a small glass. But if it's just a pinch, that is probably too much.

Thanks!!! :)

Spacers for 3 weeks! :yikes:

The purple chain & green ligs look cool and congrats on getting your lowers so much sooner. :D

Thankth, Litha ;) Actually, 3 weeks and 6 days, just barely under 4 weeks, with the spacers
One week is almost down! So far, not so bad. A little achy and uncomfortable but no pain like the uppers (yet)...

Thanks for the encouragement, Linda! The chains have definitely been working. The gaps are slowly but surely closing up. It's so surreal!!
As for the month of spacers, I think their idea was that because the contacts were so close and the assitant had a heck of a time getting the spacers in, they needed some extra time to open them enough for the bands. Well, It's been only a week, and the one they had the most trouble with is about to fall out. Go figure!
Thankfully though, there has been very minimal discomfort. Only 20 days to go...

Yes, KK! They are fantastic!!

And the color is great as well, although it's starting to fade to a drab color of purple.

Maybe yours will do the same and your ortho will decide to move your lowers date up a bit. That's about the only positive advice I have for a months worth of spacers. HA!!
Unfortunately Denise, that isn't a possibility because I need four fillings before I can get banded :(
I go in on the 23rd for two, then on the 1st for two more... Then May 2nd is the day!!

But thanks for the advice ;)

I'm not sure how I'm going to get through TWO MORE WEEKS of these things! The big blue one is dreadfully annoying, I want to pluck it out so bad! But other than being an annoyance, they have been 100% pain free, so I guess it could be worse!

Here's to your powerchain still achieving amazing results ... no matter what shade of purple it is
Thanks, KK!! :D I will take pics in the next few days to show you all the movement, but also the color change... Hope your black ligs prove to be non-fading!!

I attempted to take some pics myself, so I apologize for the poor quality. I don't think there is any noticable change when comparing the two, other than the change of the purple power chain, which is very noticable.
