Does anyone else feel like rocks were glued to your teeth???

#1 Post by opie »

Just got the Damons on yesterday. Now THIS is going to take some getting used to! I had slight discomfort yesterday, but this morning I have a great deal of pressure, which I expected - after all, we're trying to move these teeth. The bad thing is that it just won't let up, and in fact it is getting more intense.

The dentist also glued these bite blocks on the back of my front teeth, so my back teeth don't touch at all, which makes eating VERY tricky. I have to mash the food with my tongue on the roof of my mouth. Yesterday I had peas flying out of my mouth and I was drooling. Think I need more practice before I go out for mashed potatoes on Mother's Day!! :P

Something else I noticed, and I'm very curious to see if anyone else has experienced this, but I feel occasional little spontaneous "clicks" with my teeth, as if they are moving. I am not imagining this; it happens when I'm not even thinking about it. Has this happened to any one of you? Thought it was strange.

Something I did to get me through this and act as a constant reminder of why I'm doing this - I found pics of women with beautiful smiles and taped them on my office walls, so I can look at them and remind myself why I am putting myself through this. It will all be worth it in the end...It will all be worth it in the end...That's my new mantra!! :D

Opie, congrats on getting braced, and keep staying positive!

That really is the key to living with braces.

To be honest, I haven't felt the "clicks" but I have definately felt different teeth being sore at different times and it always gave me a very excited feeling.

Keep up the positive attitutde! :D

Yes! I have heard the clicks. I'm 5 months into having my braces on, and had noticed these clicks more at the beginning of treatment. It sounded like the teeth were moving ever so slightly. I figured the click was one tooth hitting the other tooth as it moved into it's new position. I have now just read that it's the archwire making the sound. :D

Opie, you don't have to use ortho tx as an excuse to hang up photos of beautiful women!
