I have had braces for 3 years now. I have had to change orthodontist because the first only wanted to close my case when i had an apparent overjet and my 2nd molars on both side were tiled inwards on the back corners. ( if that is correct) I am curious how this issues can be corrected, my molars don't seem to be moving.

I have been wearing elastics for the overjet for 2.5 months now (no change) on the Upper right and left Laterals to the lower left and right 1st bicuspids and Upper right and left and right cuspid to the lower eft and right 2nd bicuspids for 6 weeks. the remaining time Upper right and left Laterals/cuspids to the lower left and right Cuspids. How could the overjet be corrected???

any help would be appreciated.

I think that it is time to get a second opinion from another orthodontist.

Hi Dr Strassner,

Is it normal for my two front incisors to be a little different length? (left one is longer than right)
I got my braces off today, and i'm wondering if thats a 'complete' braces treatment? Does it happen with others, or did i get gypped by my ortho?

When the braces are removed, the teeth tend to go back to their original position. Ask the orthodontist to use a sanding disk and just sand a little off the incisal edge of the longer tooth to make them the same length. This will not hurt the tooth.

Dear Dr Strassner,

I am just about to undergo a BSSO and intend to switch my stainless steel brace for a lingual brace as soon as possible after the surgery. I know that this is not the most cost effective way of doing things but I want my old life back. The brace has had a significant effect upon my social life and a disastrous effect upon my love life for almost 2 years... I was originally advised that linguals could not be combined with a BSSO and only learned the truth much later!

How long after surgery should I wait before having the lingual brace fitted? - I had thought about six weeks to allow healing to take place. My molars and premolars will need to be intruded/extruded after the surgery, do linguals do this effectively? Finally, is the treatment time likely to be much longer than the six months with conventional brace? - though this is not a major concern for me as at least the brace will not be visible.

I would say that as soon as you can fully open your mouth so that impressions can be taken for the lingual braces if they are going to be placed with the indirect bonding method, you are ready. It takes i braces about 6 weeks to manufacture the new lingual braces. If the braces are going to be placed directly by the othodontist without indirect trays, as soon as you can fully open your mouth, you can switch over. Again, the oral surgeon would have to agree. Yes, they can do everything regular braces do.

i have a question if anyone knows. is it possible to have standard braces or linguals on for say half the time or untill your teeth look like there in an ok possition and then switch to invisalign?
does this affect the final result in some way, obviously it would be expensive so is this why people dont usually do it or is it because it cant be done.....

Hello, i have been told you are the best person to speak to for this question.
I have 2 baby teeth remaining at the top in the front they are next two 2 very crooked and pointy out teeth if you can imagine what i mean.
behind the baby teeth i have the adult teeth, one is still in hiding in my gums somewhere and the other is behind my baby tooth almost like i have 2 layers of teeth only one shouldnt be there, cause its a baby..
anyway i want to have linguals do you think in my case i will still be able too??
and what will happen when i have the baby teeth taken out and there is a gap in the front of my mouth is it still possiblet to have temporary teeth stuck to linguals which would obviously change over time as the gap changes as the adults come forward..

please help me i am totally stressed i dont know what to do...

Yes to both your questions. You could start with lingual braces and then switch to invisalign if you wanted. Lingual braces can do everything that regular braces can do. For the best in technology, I would suggest looking for an orthodontist who does i-braces by the Lingualcare company because they are the most advanced type of lingual braces. They are specially made for each tooth and are preprogramed to get the best result. Dr. Strassner

I am interested in linguals and I noticed on the ibraces website
(http://www.lingualcare.com/patient/doct ... ate=Canada) it
lists all orthos in Canada that use ibraces. Just wondering if all who use ibraces would be listed. I came across a ortho in my area who claims to be an ibraces user, but I don't see him under this list. His site is
http://www.thebraceplace.ca/invisible.html and his name is Dr. Gurza. Just wondering if he isn't included in the ibraces website, would he, indeed be registered to use ibraces..........thanks
