I'm 19 years old going into my sophomore year in college and TODAY I got my top braces. I didnt feel them go on at all! Very shocked. It does feel weird in my mouth but not as bad as I thought... *yet.* I hate the appearance, I can see every crooked tooth now! :cry: Eating is the worst. I tried to eat pizza, not very successful! Drinking water feels good though!!!

I get my bottoms next week and spacers as well. That reminds me I have to call about getting consultation for my jaw. Jaw surgery is apart of my treatment....ahhhhh! It was estimated that I will have braces 20-24 months, but I want them off sooner than that. I want them off before I turn 21 honestly and I will do anything I can to make that happen! :wink:

My top braces went on this past Tuesday and I too feel like they scream "Look at my crooked teeth!" But I know that' will pass. I just have to wait it out.

Whitney - the "LOOK AT MY CROOKED TEETH" scream goes away soon. You'll be amazed at how fast that wire straightens out.
Upper and lower 1st premolars extracted
Uppers braced 4/6/07 & Lowers braced 4/20/07

hello!
we are in the same boat! i got my braces on today.. i must say i have always hated my crooked teeth and have always notcied them but today my mom said "wow your teeth really are crooked!" so i know how u feel about noticing them! good luck with the pain mine has not hit YET either but im waitin for it! o and by the way... the spacers hurt!

Well I didnt get lower braces, but I did get spacers last week. DID NOT HURT..a lil tug but that was it. Although as time went on they started to get annoying. Got them taken out this weeks and got my bands.The orthondists said he can see my teeth changing shape. I'm very excited. I cant find my digital camera cord to post pictures but when I find it I will post pictures. *PROMISE*

As far as the pain..NONE. The first two days I could really feel them, but it didnt hurt like other people had told me, it was just a soreness. Maybe I have a different feeling for pain, lol.

Overall I like my braces, but I still cant wait to see my new beautiful smiles. :D

Thanks everybody for the tips and kind words.

P.S. Didnt need any pain reliever or salt water!! 8)
