Does it matter if my ortho is not a invisalign "dealer&

#1 Post by suzyqque »

but does it? Bare with me this is my first post and new to braces. I had the ceramic on top and metal on bottom for about one week and took them off cause i hated the way i looked in it. My old ortho dont offer invisalign, so i found one in my small town that does it, but the only problem is when i search the invisalign website his name doesnt come up. Should i stay away or it doesnt really matter? I have an appointment for molds on Tuesday.

I wouldn't worry too much that your potential ortho has no Invisalign knowledge or experience. I have been there and was worried but it was nothing to be concerned about. My orthos are in a partnership. One has been doing Invisalign for a really long time. The other is just starting out.

If the provider is really new, it may take some time for he or she to show up on the database on the Invisalign website. A provider with no Invisalign training cannot submit cases to the company. He had the training a few months before he did the work up for my case but he didn't show up on the Invisalign database for at least another month or two. It may be that a case or two needs to be submitted first.

Or, if you know that the provider has been doing Invisalign for awhile but does not show up on the list, it may be that he or she has another office in another town. My more experienced ortho has an office about 50 miles away from here that is his main office and then he travels around to his other offices. So, he doesn't personally show up if I were to plug in my zip code. I have to expand the search radius. The location that I go to is listed as only belonging to the other, less experienced ortho.
