Swollen gums?

#1 Post by sophiebomb »

I'm experiencing a little problem and I am wondering if anyone else has experienced this...

I'm only a few months into my Invisalign treatment and now that my molars are seriously ''moving around'', my gums are becoming quite swollen to the point where brushing is becoming quite uncomfortable.

Is this common/normal or should I be concerned and consult my dentist?

Hi sophiebomb,

Ive noticed the same thing, not with every set but certainly a few times since I started. For me, warm salt water rinses, Listerene and easy brushing and flossing seems to help the swelling subside within a few days. My guess would be that this is normal due to the teeth moving but if it get really uncomfortable, they start bleeding or if just hearing it from an expert will make you feel better, bring it up with your ortho or dentist at your next appointment. In the meantime, I hope this makes you feel a little better!

Best of luck to you! :D
