A couple of months ago I had a tooth extracted by my family dentist. It was the 1st molar I think. After the site was done healing I felt a little hard piece. It felt like a very small piece of my tooth but I could not see anything. I have read that sometimes after a tooth is pulled small pieces of bone and tooth work their way out of the gums so I did not think anything of it. When I went to my Ortho he looked at my xray and said that it was a small piece of my tooth's root that was still intact. So of course it has to be removed. Did this ever happen to anyone else???? How will my dentist pull this if it is small and almost under the gumline?
It's kind of fraeking me out...lol

that's not something I want to read, just after I finally decided to go ahead with 2 extractions!!!!! lolGood luck, I'd be freaking out too, til I got an answer!

Dont worry about the extractions. They aren't bad at all. No pain during or after. You will probably spend more time worrying like I did. In fact I have to get another tooth pulled and I am not worried in the least. My problem with the root still in the gum is more of a nuisance really. Sometimes I can be a little dramatic

Yes, actually, this has happened to me once! I was having all 4 of my wisdom teeth removed at the same time, and they were all impacted. The oral surgeon thought that there was still a piece of the root on one that he had already removed and stitched up. So he quickly did an x-ray and sure enough, it was there! So he opened it back up and took it out. I'm glad he caught it before I left that day, and of course I didn't feel him going back in because I was still under the novocaine and laughing gas, hehe. Anyway, you should definitely get that root removed so it doesn't cause an infection, and don't worry about it, it will be really quick and easy for your dentist to do. Good luck!
