Hey, im 22 as well and have been braced for a little over 6 months. I haven't read the whole thread but read your opening post and i just want to wish you good luck! Time does fly by and it is totally worth it. I had roughly the same length treatment time and im already 1/3rd to 1/2 way done! it goes by fast and gets easier, trust me!
Karen - Thanks, my new office has a great big water cooler so its very easy to keep myself hydrated now!
Smiley - Eventful indeed! I miss my car =o(
Kiwigirl - Yeah I don't have my car at all now, the insurance company is sorting it but it might be a long time before i get myself some new wheels!
Jesse - Its nice to hear from people in the same situation, I hope the time goes as quickly for me as it has for you (this month seems to have flown by!)
Jt2lang - Thanks for the pic comments, I think the whole braces thing is getting a little easier each day and I can't wait to see the final results =o)

Thanks Cwatt I'm still waiting on the outcome for my car, luckily I live close enough to walk to work!
I've had a strange couple of days, my right top metal banded tooth at the back has started hurting again when I chew, just like when I had the spacers in! I have no idea why and its quite frustrating. Also my canines have started to be sore again so I can't bite into anything and have to cut everything into small pieces before I eat it! On the bright side though my lowers are looking pretty much in line (except for the un bracketed tooth of course!) So i'm thinking at the next adjstment I'll get the spring put in to make space to bring that little guy forward! Woo!
I'm off on a plane to Poland tonight, I have an ultimate frisbee tournament to go and play in over the weekend, so on Monday it won't just be my teeth that hurt but my muscles as well!!! But its all worth it!

Hi there Amy!
I just caught up with your story. I read your first post telling about how terrified you are of needles and it reminded me of myself when I had to get three bicuspids out - I absolutely refused to have it done while awake with just Novocaine. Even though the OS referred to them as being 'simple extractions', I still had no desire whatsoever to be awake to experience them. It sounded like you had an absolutely awful time of it! Good thing that's all over with.
I think your pictures are fabulous - I can see that you're making loads of progress already, so keep up the good work! Hopefully you'll be able to get that spring in there next time you go. With regard to your sore canines- I would guess that's most likely due to movement. For me, I've noticed that the teeth with the farthest to go have been the ones giving me the hardest time. But your alignment is coming along so nicely, I doubt you'll have to deal with much more pain for long.
Cheers - hope things continue to get better and go more smoothly from now on.

Mommaducky- Thanks, I wish I had insisted on being knocked out for having my teeth removed now as it was quite an ordeal... glad its over though if things had gone smoothly I would be another month into my journey by now!!
Jt2lang and Karen - The tournament was amazing! We came 9th out of 18 and I made lots of new Polish/German etc friends.... And drank lots of Polish beer =o).
Karen- Thanks for the support, the pain in my canines has stopped now, but now one of my lower laterals is complaining... I guess all movement is good!
I went out to see a few friends I hadn't seen in a while last night, and one hadn't seen my braces. I was greeted with "have you got braces?!" and when i replied she said "Why?? I don't see why you needed them!".... I guess things always look worse when you are looking at yourself! I'm still glad I started this though as seeing my progress makes me very happy!!!

Looking good!
And, as they say, we are our own worst critics. Believe it or not, some of my friends told me they didn't realise I needed braces, which is pretty incredible, considering how messed up my alignment was. (They just probably never really saw my teeth! I was so good at hiding them...)
I'm glad things are going well. I look forward to hearing more about your braces journey!

Karen and Seriously- thanks for the support
Ducky - I guess I was good at hiding them too!
The adjustment that never was....
...so I travelled the 40 mins to my appointment (not having a car I had to beg my flat mate to drive me there) and the orthodontist was shut! I checked my Diary where I had written the appointment as I was told about it and it said Fri at 5.40 I was very confused, and so checked the slip of paper given to me by the secretary and it said Thursday 27th!! I think she must have said one thing but printed off another... so after getting myself all ready for the adjustment (and eating curry the night before!! Luckily it didn't stain!!) I discover I have another week to wait!!
Oh well... a little bit longer for my lowers to get straight ready for the spring!!!

I just read up on your thread. Wow! You've been through quite an ordeal.
I have a lot of the same crowding issues, but I feel like I really got off easy not having to have any teeth extracted. Yeesh! I had a bad experience once when I had to have a molar extracted, and they were not gentle about it, but nothing like what you went through. Anyway, I think it's great how positive you have stayed through the whole process and I look forward to seeing how things move along for you!
I have to say your teeth are looking great.
(I wish I could have gotten the lower ceramics seeing how they look so great on you!)

Nerdgirl- Thanks, I hope I never have to have teeth out again! I'm glad of the ceramics too, it was a close call though, there was a risk I might bite them off, but my ortho decided we could go forward which was good!
Smiley - yes a real bummer!!!!
FINALLY - I had my adjustment, it wasn't as painful as I feared, though I can't really chew again now! I've had a thicker wire put in and best of all I've had the spring!! My ortho says that at the next visit there should be enough space to bring the other guy forward and then using a kind of lasoo technique by the visit after that he should be in line with the others! So in 2 visits all my lower teeth will be lined up, and then they just need all the gaps closed and crookedness sorting!
I'll post some pics in a few days!
