Soon to be braced

#1 Post by Cleobabe »

Hi Everbody! My name is Melody, I'm 19 years old and I live in Queensland, Australia. I have wanted braces on my teeth for so long and now its finally happening I'm so excited! I've been reading all the posts and info on this site and heaps of others so I know exactly what I'm getting into and I can't wait! LOL
It's so good to know that I'm not alone in my quest for nice straight teeth and that there is so many great people out there willing to offer support.
My braces journey started on the 4th of September and now it's only 7 days til I get them put on!
I had a tooth pulled out yesterday, which was a baby tooth that hadn't fallen out and the adult tooth that's meant to be there is behind the adult tooth next to it. It's going to be very interesting how they put it in it's right position.
A really cool thing is that I don't even need spacers! Seeing as a lot of people say they are not very nice I think I'm very lucky in that regard.

Here's some pics of me as I am now:

Welcome, melody, nice to see a queenslander on the board.

I escaped the spacers experience as well and am mighty thankful of it.

There are a few people on the board who have had canines exposed so you're in good company.

All the best for next week.

Good luck Melody! Also did not need spacers & that was a relief. :) My advice is to start the warm water with salt rinse even without your braces on to prepare your gums & cheeks..hope everything goes well on your braces journey. :D

Thanks lionfish, Blazer and KK!
Everyone is just so nice and helpful and welcoming here! It really is so great to have found a place like this where I can come and commiserate and read other people's stories. A lot of my questions and misconceptions have been cleared up from reading all the posts as well.

6 days to go til the big event! It feels like it's dragging. I wish i could just skip to thursday and have them put on! It's all happening a lot faster than I thought it would though, for which I am very grateful.

I've also just started using a whitening gel called Pearl Drops Hollywood Nights so my teeth will be a bit whiter when my braces go on. It claims to work in one week so I though it would be good just for a little bit of a touch up. (I'm not really expecting it to work wonders) Does anyone think this is a good/bad idea or does anyone have any experience with this type of teeth whitener?

Woohoo! I got the famous KK advice! I was hoping I would get it. :D
Well it's 5 days til my B-Day. I'm getting more anxious as time goes by but a lot more excited as well.

Welcome Cleobabe - we're both new here. I agree, everyone seems to be so nice and welcoming here. I've been able to ease a lot of my fears by reading everyone elses stories. Like you my anxiety seemed to grow with each passing day. The day I got them my stomach was literally in knots. In the end, it went just fine and I finally got a good night's sleep.
