Not that bad after all : )

#1 Post by Chiwawamom »

Not even a week has gone by and I am already getting used to having uppers and lowers at the same time. I am getting closer and closer to eating a normal meal. On another note, my teeth are the last thing on my mind since my hubby and I were evacuated this morning due to the San Diego Fires. We are safe with all our pets at my mom and dads house in Riverside county. We are very blessed to have them to go to and not stuck sleeping at Qualcom stadium.

Chiwawamom... I feel for you and all those who were evacuated! I will be praying and hoping that you didn't lose your home and all. As for the San Diego Fires yesterday I worked a 14 hour shift fighting those trechorous fires and now am sitting at home as I prepare to leave San Diego for a week. I will be flying out to Norfolk, VA and driving back to San Diego, CA anyways I will check in on you to make sure you, your family and your house is all safe.

I get my lowers on Nov 6th so I'll have to post my results. I'm eating on the side of my mouth. What I'd give to eat a cheeseburger or a philly cheesesteak without a knife and fork.

WOW!!! Thank you so much Tim for all your hard work. We have amazing people risking their lives right now in San Diego they are our heros. Our house is still standing. We are affected by the 'witch' fire coming to the coast. We are in a coastal community and so far we are ok. Winds have settled a bit. Most importantly in all of this we are safe and our animals....2 chihuahuas 1 cat and a betta fish are ALL safe!!!! And this is definitely a distraction from my teeth.. : )

So glad to hear that you and yours are safe. Also great news that your adjusting to your braces - that's great.

Bless your heart SDFD - thank you for all your hard work. Please stay safe.

My daugher lives in Corona and can't go outside as the soot, etc. from all the fires gets in her nose, ears and eyes. All those affected by these fires all in my prayers.

God Bless you and your family!! I cannot imagine how hard that must be. THANK GOODNESS for our parents!!! My mom and dad are always there for my family and doesn't it feel good to be home? My mom usually will cook for me when I am at her house. Not a bad thing there... :? Take care of everyone and your teeth! Lori

How is San Diego doing? I was so saddened to hear about those fires. It sounds horrible. I am in New england and there was surprisingly little talk of it, yet it sounds catastrophic. Is it tru that they had to relocate all the animals from the Zoo?
Are things under control today?

ALL IS WELL!!!! We are home and safe. Our evacutaion was lifted Tuesday night. Thank you all for your thoughts and prayers. It has been a very sad week for San Diegans. We are a strong city and will get through this....some of you may remember the fire storm of 2003 we made it through those times and will do so again. I love living here so much and am very blessed to live in this community. This is a reminder of that. Our Fire fighters have done such an outstanding job I thank GOD for them!!!! I remember the 2003 fires and this time things seemed to be so much more organized. It is a learning experience. The Pres of the USA was here today thanking the SDFD and viewing the disaster areas. Again thank you all for your thoughts a prayers they were heard.... :D

I don't know about the fires in San Diego and how they were started, but the fire that is a few miles away from me (in Orange County) is confirmed arson. The other day they had FBI agents as well as OC sherrif officers "investigating" the fire at a house in the canyon area where it was started. Don't know if that was the house of the suspected arsonist or what, but they are certainly getting some tips. I believe our fire is the only fire in CA that has been confirmed as arson. I know a lot (if not most) of the fires throughout are suspicious though. There are some fires, however, that they know were not arson. For example one was caused by downed power lines from the Santa Ana winds and another was started by construction (a welding spark I believe). There are just so many factors with those winds that makes figuring the causes out so complicated. We have had the lowest amount of rainfall ever recorded (since record keeping started 130 years ago) and So Cal is a desert. People so easily forget this. You get these conditions and combine them with 50 mph winds with humidity in the single digits and it's disastrous.

Glad to hear you are okay Chiwawamom. I have several friends that were evacuated, some in San Diego, some in Lake Arrowhead (San Bernadino County), and some here in OC. Thankfully all of them had houses to return to. I was getting worried when the winds started shifting and the fire started spreading North that we were going to have to evacuate, but thankfully it never got to that point. There was a fire about 6 months ago (I think) that we were almost to the point of evactuation. It's a very very scary experience. One of the hardest things is trying to decide what to take with you (if you have the time).

All I have heard so far is power lines being blown down from the winds and causing the fires to ignite. I have yet to hear anything about arson. Although it crosses my mind whenever we hear on the news that santa ana winds are coming that some sick pyro will start fires because they now they will take off. It's scary!!!!!! I think it was power lines though.
