I had surgery 3 months ago (today!) and in the last week or two have started to get a very odd, non-painful sensation at the back of my nose. Unfortunately, as good as the English language is, I can't find words to describe it.
I had upper impaction by a few mm and correction of a cant, so there was no foward/backward movement but the right hand side was impacted by 2-3mm more thasn the left.
It almost feels like something has gone 'pop', or has suddenly contracted, or flexed. It seems to be somewhere around the back of my nose, kind of behind my nostril on the right hand side. It happens randomly, even if I am sitting still doing nothing other than breathing. I would guess it's some sort of 'healing' sensation as my upper jaw has felt quite a bit 'looser' than the lower until very recently. Sometimes I get a strange feeling in my teeth at the same time - again, not painful, just a weird feeling.
Has anybody experienced anything similar? It's very odd. It seems to have coincided with me switching to far less restrictive elastics.

I have hada pulling sensation behind my nostrils and when it happens it causes a strange sensation in my teeth. I am only 2 weeks BSSO and Lefort. I asked the doctor about it. He said that they place a very thick suture behind the nose to keep it from spreading after surgery. He also explained that this suture takes a really long time to desolve.
Mabey you are feeling the suture pulling or releasing?????

I can sympathise with what you must be feeling, although I have sensations which are a little different. At this moment in time, the end of my nose is completely numb so I can't really feel anything at all.
However towards the back of the roof of my mouth (obviously the nasal cavity is directly above this), I have a really strange feeling at the moment. I can only describe it as feeling like there is a 'hole' there, or that my throat has moved forwards. As part of my Le Fort 1 my upper jaw was lowered at the front, rotated slightly to the right, and I also had a cant corrected (a rotation around the X axis where my left teeth were lower than my right), so I'm wondering if it is a combination of all this.
In your case however (and probably mine if I could feel it), you have to remember that a Le Fort 1 does disturb the sinuses quite significantly! For days after my operation I suffered from slight nosebleeds, and I also had a problem with yellow/bright orange fluid draining from my nose. This scared the living daylights out of me the first couple of days, but my surgeon said that it was a combination of lymphatic drainage fluid, and dead cells from the immune system reacting to the surgery. However if you have seen graphic pictures of how they actually perform a Le Fort 1 and how they get to the maxilla through the mouth, I would assume that post-op nasal 'sensations' or discomfort would be quite common. I'm actually seeing my surgeon tomorrow so I could pose the question if you want? It's up to you.

I agree with NCRN that it may be the sutures and just general healing in the nasal area. I'm 8 weeks post-op from a bimax and have the same sensations. Although, I've been having them for quite a while. All of the nasal passages have to be dissected to do a Lefort (septoplasty?) and obviously have to reattached. That's some major trauma to that area. I still have considerable swelling in the area between my nostrils and upper lip.
I've also experienced the pop you mentioned. It was almost like had to manually put my nostrils back in place if that makes any sense at all. It really scared me but the first time it happened was at my surgeon's office so he assured me it was all part of the healing process.
But, of course, you should aways check with your own surgeon when you have any concerns whatsoever since every case is different.

dubnobass,
I hate to say this...but I will.
My first symptom that I noticed when we discovered my delayed union was a strange sensation in my nose.
Take it for what it's worth.
