wisdom teeth removal tomorrow (how long did u need off work)
im having my impacted bottom wisdom teeth out tomorrow under general but told my boss i will need thurs n frid off but i have been told i may need longer ?
how was it with you ?
how was it with you ?

well I have been told i can have a doctors note so i may ask for one and see how i feel and if i need some more time then i have that to back me up.

I had mine out on a Friday, recovered over the weekend, and was back at work and fine comfort-wise by Monday. (It took me longer - about a week - to be back to eating normally.)
If you're having them out on Thursday, I'd definitely take Friday off. Everyone's different but assuming no complications, with that plus the weekend, I would think you'll be okay by Monday. Just alert your boss to the possibility it may take longer, so there are no surprises if you do need Monday off.
Good luck!

I felt more or less back to normal in about 4 days, and I had all 4 out at once. Mine were all impacted and had to be "dug" out under general anaesthetic. I still had a bit of facial swelling and couldn't open my mouth to its full extent, but I felt OK in myself, and the stitches came out on their own within a week.
If I were you I'd ask for a sick note for a week just in case you get problems (although in the UK you can self-cert for that long). You can always go back sooner if you feel OK.
Stock up on Nurofen too, you might be glad of it. Oh, and plenty of stuff like yogurt and other no-chew food. You might not be able to open your mouth properly for a few days if there's a lot of swelling.
Good luck Kerry.

I had all four removed at the same time under general anesthesia and I was back to work the next day. However, I ended up with the dreaded 'dry socket' in at least two of the extraction sites and had to make an emergency trip back to the surgeon for treatment due to the pain, so I went home after that.
Like was mentioned above, everyone is different and depending on your job description it may impact your duties accordingly.
Hope everthing goes well!

Hm... I had one extracted which was partially impacted. I had mine under local, took less than 5 minutes. I was fine, no soreness, just took some OTC pain meds for a headache that night and the next day for lunch. Other than that I was fine. I used to work at an OS office and some people needed a couple of days for the GA to wear off but hardly any because of pain. Others were back at work the next morning.

Interesting, in the office I worked at, most times GA was used, IV sedation was used for older patients (70+), or for less difficult extractions but had anxiety issues. We did have a case where a patient was unable to have GA in the office and required intubation in the hospital setting.
I think the doctor's licensing and office set up also plays a small part in what kind of anesthesia they can administer.

About two in a half years ago before I got braces, which was in May 2005, I had all four of my impacted wisdom teeth taken out on a Friday. Which was good, because I had the entire weekend to heal as well as staying home from school the following Monday, because I didn't feel completely healed (I know. I'm a whimp.).
Love and Peace,
Ashley

I had all 4 wisdom teeth removed on a Monday morning (2 impacted, 2 normal), and I was discharged from hospital at about 4pm - basically as soon as I could walk unaided and could keep food and drink down.
I had the Tuesday and the Wednesday off work, and returned to the office on Thursday, a little bit sore but perfectly able to work.

I had all four of my wisdom teeth out at one time, and it was done in a hospital, under GA. I was in bed, on serious painkillers, for a week! I had some weird infection (not dry socket) and all sorts of bruising, swelling, etc. All four of my teeth were infected and bony impacted.
HOWEVER, my best friend got all four of hers removed at one time and was out and about that night!
It so depends on the person.
