Joining the Club in a few months...
Well, after putting it off for so long (because I thought it would require wisdome teeth extractions among other things) I've finally decided to take the plunge and get my messed up teeth fixed. I went for a consult a few weeks ago and have decided to get iBraces on the top and bottom. Due to my line of work and my age I didn't want to have visible braces. So I've got records scheduled towards the end of November, with treatment to start in January after my HRA kicks in. So that's my story. Great resource you all have here!
Hello and Welcome to the club Volare...........I get my braces on the 27th. I'm ready too! Excited..........but not nervous......just ready to get it started and get the soreness overwith..........Keep us posted with pics.........and how the treatment is going..........

Hi and welcome! I'm in the same position as you and starting my journey in January when my FSA kicks in. For me it's 48 days and counting and this will be the second time for me.
Started the journey for the second time on January 10th 2008~Ceramic uppers and metal lowers. Removed on June 2nd 2009.

Yep, I'm waiting for the FSA to start up in Jan too! But I went ahead and did records this year without it since it takes a while for the brackets to be created once they do the molds. I'm gonna have to get the ortho to write down technical terms for the items that the treatment will target so I can share it with all of you on here.
Well, I'm in the club now. Got the top arch done today. Here's my existing conditions:
Mildly long facial growth pattern
Moderately convex profile
Skeletal Class I (proper jaw relationship)
Mildly short upper jaw
Mildly short lower jaw
Mild upper jaw constriction
Ideal molar and cuspid relationship
Overjet 3mm Overbite 2mm
Mild upper arch crowding
Mild lower arch crowding
Tongue thurst habit
Grinding habit
Lower dental midline to the right of facial midline by 2mm
So I'm getting iBraces on top and bottom. Like I said, top was today, bottom in 6 weeks. Estimated treatment time is 24-30 months. Putting the top brackets on was another disgusting taste fest. But not too uncomfortable. All the brackets went on in one step using a tray that held them all at once. Now I'm dealing with all the excess adhesive that I realize is between all the teeth and everything. I was driving home trying to figure out what all this stuff was on the front of my teeth when I realized it was adhesive. It cracks off like dried glue, which was fine on the fronts, but on the backs I don't know what it will take to get it to go away. Probably eating! Eating was an adventure- I tried chili, which worked ok- not too much chewing required...
They gave me a fancy Braun electronic tooth brush at my apt today, so I'll get to try that machine out. And I've already got a waterpik. Too bad the waterpik won't knock out this extra glue!
