I'll give you guys a brief background... This is my first post, and I'll share my experience with you so far.
I just turned 21 awhile back... and decided to get linguals because well... they're invisible! I always wanted to correct my teeth, I wish I would've done it when I was younger, but I thought well... better now than never.
I decided to do this through my college's ortho school, so I pay a bit less, but I also have a longer treatment time (because the teacher is only there a few times a month for adjustments, etc)
I had my bottom linguals put on Sept. 27th... and well, it SUCKED the first few days. I couldn't eat well, and I was getting jabbed by the wires (only one wire jabbed me because my tooth was pretty crooked) but I learned to use wax, and after a few weeks of adaptation my tongue got used to it, and my diet returned to normal.
I just got my top linguals on the 15th, and am still getting used to them. I don't use wax, but I'm still sore when it comes to chewing... It's only Saturday, and I got them Thursday, so I'm doing pretty good.
I have an overbite, so they put build-ups on the bottom part at my last appt, to help it... these are starting to wear down already (is that normal?) so I probably need to get them rebuilt.
So far so good, no loose brackets, nothing... I'm noticing my bottoms getting straighter already, and am excited. I've been pretty stressed about the whole losing weight thing but I know that's only temporary... oh well.
One thing I must admit - I haven't flossed the bottoms like I should... is that a big problem? I will start now, but before it was so hard to get in between the teeth, and I'm even using the floss threaders... I don't want to get a bunch of cavities, so I know I need to start flossing... no matter what.
Oh yea, I experienced a lisp for the first week with the bottoms, and now I have a mild lisp with the top... I'm pretty sure I'm the only one who notices it though. ;p
That was a quick sum-up... if you have questions, just shoot em at me. I appreciate any advice too...

Hi chris,
Glad to hear things are going well for you.
I don't know much about molar build ups, but there have been others here who have had them. Maybe ask your ortho at your next visit.
As for flossing, yes, you should do this on a daily basis. I know it can be a pain in the proverbial, but once you get used to doing it it doesn't take that long.
As for weight loss, I had an initial 2-3kg drop in the first few weeks which came back in time.

Hi Chris and welcome on board
I just want to recommend using Waterpik (instead of floss), I found it VERY efficient and MUCH LESS of a pain to use. (some also come with an orthodontic attachment, which has a tiny brush at the end that gets around the wires and cleans the brackets REALLY WELL
It's not necessarily inexpensive (by comparison), but it's an investment I will never regret
Good luck with eating & talking, and much more importantly, with the end result!
(Keep Your fingers crossed for me, just getting my lower iBraces tomorrow... had the upper ones for 3 weeks now and have gotten used to them by now, but I really don't want to lose any more weight, or have a lispin' issue again...
Best,
Emma
