The fame and notoriety that will come with winning this competition is worth the excess aggravation from having so much hardware in my mouth. It is worth the risk of adding new hardware. I think the winner should get an Archwired.com magnet to stick on their face.
That being said, anyone that puts up with a headgear gets my vote. Whenever I see somebody in one I feel the same way as when I see a dog with a cone around their head (ala "One Crazy Summer").
Best,
Rory

I forgot about Mottsrods Ken, but I'm certain there was somebody a year or so back who also had a double-facebow HG. I remember seeing a pic he posted of it, but i can't for the life of me remember who it was.
edit - found him. It is Jose and there's a pic here

He hasn't been around in a while though.

I don't think I can win this, but here we go:
16 traditional metal brackets (6 of them have hooks)
2 heavy rectangular archwires
1 elastic powerchain on the top arch
6 ligatures on bottom arch
1 Herbst appliance, banded to first molars
This is what my Herbst appliance looks like, in case anyone doesn't know (these pics are from almost three months ago):

I like how you call my Herbst a "gizmo"gee, head gear is simple compared to a Herbst gizmo...it shows and looks wicked but a Herbst is a jaw brace. That should take the prize.
My Herbst doesn't really function as a jaw brace so much as it puts certain forces on my teeth to move certain ways. Although it has helped my tmj a bit, as my jaw feels more comfortable in its new position.
Personally, I think that anyone who goes out in public wearing headgear deserves a prize, I could never do it! No ones sees a Herbst appliance unless I show it to them, it's discreetly inside my mouth.

Thanks! It didn't take too long to get used to my Herbst. As you can see from the pics (which are from when I first got it), my molars didn't touch at first. It took a little less than two weeks for my back molars to touch and I could finally eat regular food again! The Herbst has a lingual bar type thing on it, so I talked funny, but only for the first week or so. And the Herbst loves to trap food all over the back of my mouth (way WAY more than regular braces alone ever did), which is still annoying but I deal with it.Did it take a while to get used to Sally? Your teeth look lovely BTW.
