How can I make my Orthos screw-up public?

Hallo,

Iâ€™m still suffering endlessly after finding out that my ortho extracted four teeth that did not need any extraction.
So far I did not find a new doctor that is willing to help me to my best interest. Everybody sees for himself the big money involved. I feel still that Iâ€™m on my end. My before pictures show the truth of what really happened.

I would like to bring the story on TV and in the News paper. I wrote to several television channels and Newspaper, hoping to get their attention, but nobody responded back to me.
Does anyone has any suggestion or can help me to get my voice heard out there.

What happened to me is a major mistake, unfortunately nobody will listen. My family things Iâ€™m crazy, they do not even want to look at my before pictures of my teeth and face which show the truth.

I need to get my voice out there, that is the only way that someone might hear me and refer me to someone who is willing to fix my problem.
Iâ€™m very serious about this because this is destroying me, and I do not want that this will happen to anyone else.

Also, if someone knows a good malpractice lawyer in Orange county, CA, plaese can I get the contact info.

Further if you know a good ortho in that area who is very good in repairing major srew-ups, I highly appreciate it.

Everybody is telling me that if I keep talking to people nobody can help me anyway. They say that I have to help myself. I can not help myself anymore. I lost my energy to keep going on. I really need some very good doctor who is willing to help me maybe free of charge. I'm a student who does not even own a car.

I know that there are doctors out there that are willing to help. For example, the beauty makeover, those doctors provide free help.

So many of you will read about my problem, maybe someone can really help me in someway.

Which teeth did he extract? How did you find out they should not have been extracted? Why should they not have been extracted? Do you have any before/after pictures?

Katy, several thoughts come to mind.

1. Make sure that you proof-read any of the communications you send to newspapers or radio stations. If they see a lot of misspellings or typos, they will likely not take you very seriously. Is it fair? No. Is it reality? Yes.

2. Doctors are in business for the same reason as any one else. They need money to support themselves. In the US, they can make a good living, but that's supply and demand. Not everyone can be a dentist, so they get to make more money. You may want to look into dental schools who'll be willing to help you. They tend not to take very simple or complicated cases, but at least it's an option. Even if they can't take you, they may be able to refer you to a reputable dentist who is concerned about you, not just the money. Also, look into dental clinics. They're less expensive than private practices. Orange County is huge, so there should be several places you can investigate.

3. Most people are not concerned about the teeth problems of others. That's one reason why this site is so awesome - people here genuinely do care. Don't take it to heart if no one seems interested. While, they may be slightly concerned, they aren't very likely to make a big deal out of it like you are, because they have other things to worry about. It's not personal.

4. Also, if this has you feeling extremely upset, you may want to consider counseling. Counselors can help you sort out your feelings. Even if what has happened, can't be "fixed" right away, you can at least feel better about it.

LilBlackDress-You have stated that all so perfectly! Great advice for anyone in such an adverse situation to consider.

Another thing to consider--When you do find a malpractice lawyer, consider the legal fees. Also, remember that if/when you do file such a lawsuit, it will "go with you" everywhere. When you go to apply for a job, anytime you go to a new doctor/other place where your medical records are viewed people will be able to see that you have taken legal action (anyone with more info/better input on this statement, perhaps a lawyer on here feel free to add to/correct this last bit here)

I would try and look at some textbooks and/or journals related to law, and more specifically medical law in the U.S. and that in California, before filing a formal lawsuit.

Also, all of what Dubnobass has asked will surely need to be considered when making your case, as well as need before filing the suit (Again, others feel free to add to/correct what I have just said here)

Katy, good luck in resolving this terrible situation, and so sorry that you have gone through such a bad experience.

I think the media would only be interested in the most severe cases ... severe injury or death.

I think a malpractice lawsuit is the way to go.

You should be able to file a complaint with the California Dental Ass. they have a peer review that will review your case, a panel of orthodontists who will look at your teeth ,records and make a decision on wether they feel something was done wrong. You may be able to get your money back so you can continue to fix the problem.

If you are really serious about appearing on television and sharing your story I would def contact any of the daytime talk shows such as Oprah, Montel Williams, Mauri Povich, Dr. Phil... they would most likely pay for any treatment to correct what has been done.
