Ok I needed to find some Rincinol so I did some looking and found some on drugstore.com its 7.99 a bottle and they have free shipping on orders $25 dollars so I placed an order, and picked up some antibacterial biotene toothpaste. IDK we will see. I just know the hooks that are hooking me are getting worse ATM and I need relief. I hope this will help a few of you.

I am going to look for a Sonicare today. My hubby had no clue that with all the expense of the braces themselves came more and more needs..lol But he is really good about keeping me with what I "NEED".
My sentence is a Minimum of 24 months
I am in for a bite issue
I am a all metal girl :)

Hi Smile,

Those hooks can be a killer! The most challenging ones for me have been the buccal tubes. OMG, those hooks are sharp and they're good at digging holes. Rincinol definitely helped and then wax to cover while they heal. As far as finding Rincinol, did you check your local Walgreens? It's sold here in Florida which is nice, so I bought it on the spot!

Did you have any luck finding a sonicare. Check out bed and bath or linens and things, they always offer 20% off coupons in the Sunday paper. Happy Shopping! :D

Hi Katie,

Thank you! I'm six weeks in and have 46 to go. My estimate is for a year. My teeth were pretty straight. I had some minor relaspe. My main issue is my bite. I had to go in yesterday for an emergency appointment because my upper centrals were hitting my lower brackets. I was hoping that my ortho would just do my adjustment two weeks early like he did three weeks ago, no such luck :( . Anyway, I got two lovely bumpers on my lower centrals and have to wait for my next adjustment in another 13 days.

I have 11 hooks right now and 5 of them are on my molars. The buccal tubes are killer. They have already put holes in my cheeks. Nothing that a little rincinol and wax can't fix!!!

Hi Kitty,

Those buccal tubes are horrible!! Got to love something that puts holes in your cheeks...NOT!!!

I still use wax every so often on them. Thank you for the complement! I'm a crazy person when it comes to my teeth these day, I always have my water bottle and always rinsing them especially after coffee and I brush 4-5 times a day as well. I think that my sonicare really helps!!!

B ~

Well, maybe I better wait until I get braced to see if I get a sonicare in my goodie bag. If not, then I might have to do some shopping... I know I'm getting a Water Pik which they require you to purchase, but at cost so it's not too bad.

Hopefully your bite and TMJ improve and you feel loads better at the end of your sentence.

I honestly don't think I've seen a lot of adults in braces but maybe once I'm braced, I'll start noticing them more. :)

I had my extractions on 2/4 and I get my lowers braced and receive a bite plate on 3/3. Uppers will be braced in approximately 3-4 months.

Feel free to check out my blog.

Hi Braced32,

As far as the Sonicare goes, definitely go check out pricing. I'm totally thinking about getting the cordless waterpik, it's probably a good thing to have. I saw it for about $50.

My bite will definitely improve, but there is no guarantee about the TMJ. I haven't been popping like I used to, but I'm really conscious about opening my mouth or chomping/grinding.

I work in outside sales and see many clients on a daily basis and it just seems like I notice more adults in braces that I did before.

Hey, how have you been? Wow, those tubes and hooks are terrible. I have two hooks but the don't bother me yet. Everything I eat gets stuck there tho.

The Sonicare does an awesome job of whitening your smile. I have an Oral B brush that came with an irrigator. It does a good job too.

I too have noticed more and more adults with braces now. Its really comforting to see others share the joy of braces! lol Take care!
I have just completed my treatment!!

Hi Him,

Isn't it nice to know that we're not alone! I'm hanging in there. I have my dentist and ortho appointment next Wednesday and I can't wait! I woke up this morning and the inside of my cheeks are killing me, been doing rincinol, but been lax on the wax. I work in outside sales and was talking a ton yesterday and totally added insult to injury with sore cheeks.

I love my sonicare, I had one years ago and once it died I never replaced it. It does a great job removing stains on my teeth. I also stopped using act b/c it was staining my teeth and I got the natural dentish floride rinse which is great! You can get it at walgreens. It doesn't have that cpc stuff that I've read about that can cause staining.

Got to run and get ready for work! Have a good one!

Hi browneyedgrl,

I've been reading your story and I noticed a lot of posts about Crest Pro Health mouthwash. I just started using it two days ago and same thing...blue stuff all over my braces! Ugh! What a pain. Do you know if it's still safe to use(I like it,it's been helping, except for having to re-brush after using it)? I noticed you changed to another rinse so just curious.....

Also, I've heard a lot on the Sonicare....gonna have to look into that too! My hubby's the same as someone said earlier....always joking about the extra stuff I "need"! LOL

I look forward to following your story as a "mom of multiples"(as Katie put it! hehe). It's so comforting knowing other adults and mothers to share our joys and fears..and, goodnes knows how us women LOVE to talk!! *cluck, cluck*
Keep smilin'! :)

Hey B :-1

Just checkin in on your progess. The Rincinol ROCKS :rawk: my new best bud since getting these god foresaken turbos.

I didn't realize ACT stains? I've been using the kids bubblegum flavor for awhile. BUT......I am noticing definate discoloration on the top teeth. I think mine is from my coffee addiction though. I drink 6-8 cups of coffee a day (as if I am not enough of a spaz already!) I am rinsing my mouth and brushing soooo often, my ligatures are already stained and I'm stressing. I CAN'T QUIT COFFEE!!!!!!

Yeay on the early adjustment. Even though it's painful and sux, at least you know things are moving in the right direction!!!!!!

Hang in there girlie!!!!! 8)

Browneyedgrl,

Did your 2nd and 3rd day of braces really hurt? How does the wax work. What pointers could you give me for B-Day?

Thanks,

LynB

Hi Jen,

I'm sure that Crest pro-health is good, but it's a PITA, I don't have time to brush again! I started using the natural dentist rinse and it has no alcohol in it and it's really soothing. Right now, my mouth is completely on fire!!! My cheeks are totally a mess and it's been almost 7 weeks already, UGH!!!

I love my sonicare, I use it everynight! It really helps with the staining. I'm a megacoffee drinker and can't live without it!!! Plus I brush about 4-5 times a day anyway!

Nothing like being a Mom of Multiples... There is always an adventure going on in my life!!!

Go to run,

Hi Katie,

There is something it called cpc and it stains. I read it here somewhere, plus there's alcohol in it. My cheeks are on fire right now and I don't need any more burning sensations! I found at Walgreens the natural dentist floride rinse and it's for smiles under construction. It's great and it doesn't have cpc in it.

As far as the ligs go. I have wire ties on my upper 4-4, while the assistance my placing my first wire, I mentioned that I drink alot of coffee and she asked the ortho if she could do wire tires instead of ligs. I have silver ligs everywhere else and 3 light silver bumpers on my lowers.

I didn't get the early adjustment, I was hoping for. I have a cleaning next wednesday morning and my adjustment later that afternoon. Won't that be fun!!!

Got to run, have a good one!
