Yeah, my second day was pretty bad. That's when the brackets really started cutting the insides of my mouth. Not to mention the tooth pain got worse. I think that day I had tomato soup and some bread. Pretty sure I had mac and cheese, too. I know they were definitely soft foods. And I took lots of ibuprofen, lol.

Haha...funny you should say tomato soup and bread and mac & cheese, Becca!! That's what I ate my second day too!! My hubby was wondering what was for supper and since I'd already ate, I told him he'd have to fend for himself. He wasn't too impressed! Oh yeah, and LOTS of ibuprofen..hehehe :?

LynB...I also ate yogurt and today I had some instant oatmeal(really fills you up and easy to eat!). I'm on day 3(well, day four cuz it's about 12:10 in the a.m. for me here in Canada) and it's not too bad...definately getting better day by day :D

Hang in there...and keep smilin' chickie!! 8)
Keep smilin'! :)

Hi LynB!

Welcome to AW! Wow, that appliance look like its hard to get use too. Don't worry you are getting closer to have it removed and braces on. There is a website in the main forum with a list of soft food. Eat lots of mashed potatoes and soup. Believe it or not I ate baby food and cereal when I had all four of my wisdom teeth remove. That was my new diet for two weeks! lol. May have to go on it again for the extractions. Cleaning up was a breeze!
I have just completed my treatment!!

I don't think I could deal with your appliance I am so sorry. But hang in there. It will be so worth it! I have children myself and I got colored ligs (pink and purple) and my 4 year old told me she wanted to get new teeth like me. My husband has also been the best, he's always had pretty teeth, but he has made sure I have all kinds of soft foods (mac & Cheese, soup, bread, pudding, Cheese cake and Ice Cream) . And he also made sure I had my meds.

But most of all congrats on the journey!

LynB,

sounds like you may have faced the toughest part of your ortho journey right from the get-go. I think although there will be future hurdles your current appliance will make the braces seem like a walk in the park.

What type of brackets are you getting?

Hang in there, you will be surprised how quickly time travels and be thankful you are doing it now at your age. When you get to be my age you will a beautiful smile and your ortho experience will be a faint memory.

Congrats again on taking the plunge and be well.

Rhonda

Eating

#28 Post by LynB »

Today I went to the mall thinking I could eat whatever, But that was not the case. I got a slice of Cheese Pizza. Once I started to chew it got all caught up in this appliance :soremouth:. So I guess I will stick to soft and smooth foods. My check up day is not coming fast enough.

Lol don't you hate it when you conveniently forget you've got a tonne of metal in your mouth and attempt to eat something that is a BAD IDEA.

Me, I still can't eat chocolate. Must be something with the metal reacting because it just feels WRONG - all my buccal tube thingies start to poke when before eating chocolate I couldn't feel them at all.

Thanks for the laugh this moring , Buu you are so right it looks like a masher. That is not right but you are much closer than I was. I thought it looked like paperclips.

Kittymeow84: You are so right, I am like ohh I want to eat that and as soon as I remember I have this in my mouth it really makes me  . Sometimes I say whatever I am going to eat it anyway I don't care if the metal gets hooked. LOL, I guess all of of this comes with making the steps to get your teeth nice and straight.
