Don't be sorry, apparently I'm missing out on this whole "powerchains hurt" thing, and jaw surgery really isn't painful as much as annoying, uncomfortable, etc ;) It is *I* who dodged this bullet, I'll take numb after adjustments any day. Eating something besides soup the day after an adjustment? Rock on.

I just want these powerchains to MOVE something... I am watching this gap and it seems to not be doing anything at all.

Hey there everyone! I got my 1st set of power chains this morning..YOW they hurt!!!!!! Uppers only they said beacause I got a 20 lower archwire that they reccomend I come in in 4 wks for the lower powerchain not to OVER-do it on the lowers all at once......Im all for that.: ) I got a Lime green powerchain upper and lime green lower ligs "St. Pattie's day"....I look CRAZY right now..everyone at work LOVES it though : )
Nice...
I got my first set at my adjustment on Friday, Feb. 22 (week 51) on the top only as well; I am assuming that my bottoms are not yet ready for powerchains. I was in pain for about four days :-(. I got burgundy. A few people at work have noticed :-)...

Hi All,

I am nearing the end of my orthodontic treatment (after only 8 months - YEAH) and have full upper & lower powerchains.

They do hurt a bit, but only for a couple of days and it's nothing that some over the counter pain medication can help. I usually take 2 Aleve right before I go in for my appointment. They last for 12 hours and if you're busy like me, I always forget to take my pain meds so this way I don't have to think about it as much.

I learned something new at my last adjustment (Feb 19th) - different colored powerchains can either fit more loosely or more tightly. I have the dark purple metallic. They fit VERY tightly and were rather painful getting them put on, but I didn't object too much because I'm really looking forward to getting my braces off and seeing my movie start teeth (I'm so pleased with the results)!!!!

Really, it's all about choosing your attitude. You can focus on the pain, or you can deal with & minimize the pain and focus more on that fantastic smile you will have in the end!

Good luck to you all in your braces journey!

Sandista

I have two, four link powerchains on either side of my mouth on my bottom brackets. They were replaced at my first adjustment yesterday. They are both working to move my teeth toward the back of my mouth because of the crowding up front. The one on the right has the extra purpose of attempting to turn one of my teeth so it can join it's friends on the archwire, already! And YES, omigosh, the tooth that needs turning is UBER tender. But, judging by the first powerchain application, it will feel better in a few days. Hang in there!
