Hi everyone! My name is Shay, I am female and I am 27 years old. I live in the US. Welcome to my story!

I hate my teeth. I have a really bad overbite. I have ugly shaped teeth. I also have TMJ. I have wanted braces since as long as I remembered. My brother had braces and I was always pretty envious. I don't think it's fair he got them and I didn't. I guess I held a grudge most of my life. I finally decided to do something about it. Here is a picture of before:

I get my top braces on tomorrow. I am getting ceramic on the first 6 teeth and then metal on the rest. I won't get my lowers for another couple of months. The orthodontist said this is because my bite is so bad that I would probably knock them off when I bite down.

Wish me luck! I will try to post some pictures after I get them tomorrow.

Thanks to everyone for your support. Seeing other adults not be scared of getting braces has really helped!

Started the journey for the second time on January 10th 2008~Ceramic uppers and metal lowers. Removed on June 2nd 2009.

Hi Shay! Good luck tomorrow! You will have a gorgeous smile! I have an overbite too that I cant stand so I can relate. Those front teeth will come back soon!! Do you have to get any extractions?

Here is a picture. I just got them on. I was in and out in 30 minutes.

Kara, I didn't have to have any extractions. I guess I am lucky! I go back in 6 weeks for a check up.

I am so happy. Thanks so everyone for your continued support. This really is a great environment here.

I have a DSLR camera so the pictures come out really clear. I just have to resize them a lot!

Try standing outside with your mouth facing the sun and then take your picture. Even if it is overcast the picture will have nice lighting.
