panoramic x-rays

#1 Post by LucyVanity »

How often do all of you get x-rays taken besides the initial records? I switched orthodontists halfway through my treatment. My first orthodontist never took any x-rays after the initial records were taken. When I switched orthodontists, I had records taken again, which is understandable. I have been going to the new orthodontist for half a year, and I have about 1/4 total treatment left, and he wants to take a progress panoramic x-ray. He says this is to see how my roots are doing.

I feel like I get x-rays more often than some people. Are progress x-rays the norm?

Lucy I had x-rays taken at about 15 or 16 months of a 24 month treatment presumably to see how my roots were holding up. I do not know if this is the norm, but my ortho did it. It put me at ease because I am paranoid about root resorption so I did not mind.

I also had a panceph X-ray around a year into my treatment as my ortho wanted to see where my roots were. He did ask me first though if I was OK with him doing another one.
