Thanks for the happy brace day comment! I am doing well on my day 2 of braces, not much pain yet :-)

I noticed that you did not get your upper cuspid bracketed yet. Both of my upper cuspids were bracketed yesterday and they are up high too. I have not noticed much pain on them yet. They did put some clear ligatures on them to stop those brackets from irritating my cheeks.

Well best of luck,
-Dave

Thanks guys.

Dave, the ortho didn't put a bracket on that tooth cos he said it will piss me off too much. But after a few weeks with these things on I'm thinking of telling my ortho to go ahead and bracket it if its gonna make things move faster. I'm so used to them now I don't think they will annoy me at all :)

Hey! Havent heard from you in a while. Just checkin in on ya. Your vacation is coming up soon huh? It will be nice to get away and see the parents. I love going to visit mine. They live in such warmer states than I do. :D

The pics look great and sounds like you're really seeing some good progress. Glad you're getting used to the braces too.

Hope to hear from you soon.

thanks for the welcome. Haha. Your monorail cat avatar is so fat and cute. And chocolate Bavarian sounds delicious btw.

Congrats on braces! The ortho didn't bracket one of my teeth too. There is not enough room for a bracket yet and its too rotated.

I hope I see some movement soon. I wish you fast movement too!

Hey! I just joined recently and just started reading stories. Read your story and glad you're seeing some movement already! Are you gonna have springs to make space for the "bung" tooth? If so, maybe he's waiting until after that to put the bracket on.

I hope it gets bracketed and gets to join the club soon. :) I have a tooth that's bracketed, but not attached to the wire because it's too far back. I have to remember to ask when my ortho when he thinks it will be ready for the wire. Next adjust. isn't till the end of next month. Some other teeth aren't in the wire until after extractions. Kinda annoying having to wait, huh?

You do have great teeth and it looks like things will move pretty quickly once all your teeth are in the wire. Your arch is nice and wide. I'm jealous!

1st Adjustment

#52 Post by kittymeow84 »

1st Adjustment!!

I was pretty excited today - work went by in a flash.... then it was off to the ortho!

Very simple and quick adjustment for my first one. Dr Schwartz commented on how well my teeth were coming along. He said that bites like mine can be very stubborn to open up and he was pleased that I had so much movement.

In the chair he quickly flipped open the gates on my brackets and pulled the wire out.
Then it was time for a NEW wire! Already?!! Its rather large and square and much heavier than my first one. I could feel instant tension as it was snapped into place but now, two hours later I feel nothing.
YET.
That will probably happen tomorrow when I try and bite into some delicious morsel of food. Heh!

After that he pulled off the molar band that was too big. It came off surprisingly easily so I dont know if that's cos it was a size too large or they're all going to be like that. I hope the latter! Putting a new, smaller one on was a cinch and then all I had to do was rinse the yucky glue taste out of my mouth.

I asked how long til I get my bung tooth in. He said the next adjustment or the one after that. Awesome! I'm hoping the next one so I'll be willing my teethies to MOVE every night!

Sooooo.....Next time I'm in the chair will be on May 22nd. That's almost a full two months - much longer than the six weeks from B'day to today.

Anyways, enough of the jibber-jabber - here is a very poor quality photo thanks to my webcam.
Of course I shall take many more photos soon when my boyfriend gets back from New Zealand with my camera.
You probably can't see a lot of change. The most movement has been in my bite. There is a good 1mm overjet between my top and bottom row which will eventually turn into a nice angled bite when I get the bottoms on.

Just wanted to stop by and tell you that things are looking well for you. I'm a bit envious that your archwire is so thick. I had my first adjustment after two months and my archwire is a bit larger but no big deal.

Teehhee I never thought I could induce archwire envy! ;)

I think you can see in the photo - it has some little tiny kinks/ripples in it. Not sure what that is. Odd huh?

I'm still not sore today. Except for one tooth - the one next to my upper left banded molar - is REALLY sore at the mo. Doesn't feel like braces-sore - just ouch. Might have to call the dentist on Monday. I need a clean anyway. I can't think why its sore....kind of a dull, root deep ache. Hmmm.

It's weird how one random tooth will hurt. I've tried to figure out why and there seems to be no relationship to anything in particular. I suppose that one is just moving down in the root--maybe?

I see the little ripples, kinks in your wire. Interesting! I will have to look that up on the internet.

I was really worried because my ortho asked me if my first archwire caused any pain and I told him no pain, nothing I could not handle--maybe on a scale of one to ten with ten being the worse, probably a two or three on rare occasions. So he tells me, "This archiwre will definitely hurt!" He scared me. :FeelSick: It hurt for two days but nothing like the horrible first three days in braces. And no pain really since then.

:jump: Yay for your first adjustment. I have mine on Wed (8 weeks since B-Day) I have little ripples in my wire as well at times but then the next day it seems to go back to straight, I just chalk it up to movement. Yeah and the random tooth ache I have no idea. I get them too.
