Hi Bekah and congrats on getting braced! I will be braced next month and I can't wait! I saw on Twinjoy's page that you are an AirForce wife. Me too! I look forward to following your progress.I'm not sure how to put a link to my Brace story, but I have some before pics on there ( YIKES!!!) tough to have EVERYONE looking at your teeth all up close and personal, huh?!

Crystal S, nice to meet another military spouse! I hate having my teeth all out they do seem to look worse without a face around them!

I am so excited and can't wait till the 7th! I honestly am not worried about how I will look.

I just think about being able to talk without the bottoms being all wonky and it makes me happy!

Jenny, I really enjoy being able to bond with my daughter over this! I am thinking that if we are both doing the same hygiene routine that maybe it will be easier for her!

Well I went today and bought a waterpik and ordered a dentakit! I will try the waterpik and see how I like it in a few minutes. I am trying to make sure I have everything I will need for Monday so I don't have to go to the store! I get them on Monday! Getting a little nervous, but I am sure that I will be okay.

My wonderful husband came home last night and brought me a bag of tootsie rolls and hot tamales! My favorites! He said he knew that I wouldn't be able to have them for 18 months and though I might like them this weekend.

I looked back at my pics and decided that the pic of my bottom teeth did not accurately show exactly how bad they really are!

I will post a pic on Monday afternoon!!!

Bekah,

Hello and congrats on getting braced soon! Ohh and great name, btw!

That was really sweet of him! Hot tamales are my favorites too, and I can tell you that after getting used to al the hardware, you'll be able to eat your favorite chewy candies just fine! Just be extra careful and tell your hubby to bring you some in a few weeks too!

Take care,

Hi Bekah!

Thought I would come by and say hi since you were nice enough to stop in and say hello to my new 'braces story' as well!! :)

So you are 32, and I am 42!!! I chuckled when I read that your parents were not supportive of your getting braces at 'your age'! :)

So many people make this choice - and are way older then you!! You do have perfect teeth on top and boy those pictures are great - did you borrow them from your ortho! ??

But the fact that your bite is off is definitely a good reason to be braced, bad bites can cause all sorts of problems, just ask - ME! :)
And mine has gotten progressively worse.

I saw my oral surgeon today - so I am all set for my one tooth extraction next week, he is a super doctor - I feel very confident and safe with him. Hopefully it won't be too painful.

I am having the extraction on April 8 - I will be sure to check in here to see how you did on the 7th with your braces!

Good luck!
Beth

[quote="Bekah"]\ Thank you to everyone here on the board that offered opinions for both types! You guys helped me more than you will ever know! I finally based my decision purely on the fact that I want my bottom teeth to match the tops and I want to play with all the pretty colors! :D

Hi again - was going to ask you what kind of braces you are getting and then saw the answer. But am curious - if you wanted top and bottom to match, why not get ceramic on top and bottom? Why did you need metal on top?

Beth, my ortho doesn't offer ceramics on the bottom! I actually did downloaded the pics off my orthodontist's website! I love that I can look on his website and get my progress! I had all four of my wisdom teeth out and it wasn't too bad. I will definitely check in to see how you are doing on the 8th!

Beckster, nice name right back at ya! I will have to remember that my life isn't over after braces!

I am really getting a little nervous. I just keep telling myself that I am doing this to better myself and to avoid future problems!

I am so jealous of your natural teeth but I understand the need to get them fixed. Congratulations on your braces and I hope that your time goes quickly.

I am hoping that my teeth look as good as yours do in the braces! It is funny that you say I have good teeth. My dentist told me my front teeth are too big! I guess that will make the braces look smaller huh?

Hi Bekah!

Wow, 2 more days till you get braced! How exciting! You're going to do great since you've gotten yourself so prepared with the research done on here, plus you've got your daughter right there with you! Don't be nervous...as you read in my story, I didn't have the initial shock. I really did love what I saw because I knew it's what's going to get my teeth looking great which is what I've been wanting my whole life. Just try to keep that in mind, that they're only temporary and when you're done you're gonna be just THRILLED with how beautiful your teeth are. They already look great as is, they're gonna be SUPER awesome by the time you're done!

Good luck to you on brace day! :D
