I'm getting braced today!

#1 Post by dugsmom »

I can't believe I am really going to do it. I've waited 2 years (since my first ortho visit) and the day is finally here. I had to force myself a million times not to cancel yesterday...my nerves are getting the best of me!

Cancel? Are you kidding!?! Geez, I guess I can't relate because the day before my banding was full of glee...I won't lie, even though I wanted braces BADLY, it was a bit shocking seeing myself for the first time. As well as feeling like I had marbles on top of my teeth. But I PROMISE that you will be completely used to them in one week's time. The pain will have subsided, and they will be just an extention of you. I feel privileged to be able to afford braces now, and am overjoyed with the progress I've made in a year's time. It is so exciting to go to every appointment, because you feel as though you are hitting a new milestone every time. Just keep and open mind, and think of it as a POSITIVE experience that many would be happy to go through in order to improve their dental health and self esteem. Unfortunately, some never get the chance. This will be a change for the good! Get excited!

Thanks everybody!
Beana803- I'm excited now. My braces are on, my teeth hurt, I look awful, but I am soooo glad I did it. I've been waiting for a long long time to fix my teeth...I was one of those people who couldn't afford to get my teeth fixed when I was little. I am going to be more positive about this and enjoy the process rather than complain.

dont fret. you'll do just fine. and you will really like watching things happen. dont worry about the pain. it goes away quickly. next month you will be a pro.

i really think as an adult the whole experience of having braces is much more meaningful. and you will appreciate it much more as well.
