Scott from Calgary, AB, Canada

#1 Post by Scott »

Hi,

My name is Scott and I'm a 24 year old male from Calgary, AB, Canada. I finally got my braces on Friday, September 17th and I'm keeping a detailed log of everything on my web site at http://members.shaw.ca/scott/braces/.

My treatment in a nut shell is 18 months, metal upper and lower braces with "speed bumps" (still don't know what the proper names for these are, and I don't know how long I'll have them, but they are hell). I had 3 extractions (both upper first premolars and my only remaining lower central incisor.

I'm very thankful for this site and that's why I'm keeping the detailed log. It took me a long time to get up the nerve to get braces and I couldn't have done it without having all these people to relate to on here!

Cool site Scott. I read that they gave you ativan when you had your teeth extracted. Why do I not get good drugs when I go to the dentist? I'm sure it would motivate me to go more frequently  Good luck with the braces!

Well done Scott for taking the plunge, it will be well worth it. A nice website to keep us updated aswell. :) We've all got something in common on this forum, so you know you are amongst friends.

Hi Scott. Nice site!

I'm struggling with the not-chewing thing right now, too. :| My stick blender is going to wear itself out any day now.

I like your site, Scott. I can't speak for those speedbumps but I know what you're talkin' about with the chewing thing. I've worked my way up to partially chewing/swallowing whole foods when necessary, like at work and my only choice is a salad, but I still prefer liquid stuff. Look forward to see your progress!!

Hi Scott - nice to see a fellow Albertan on the board! I'm in Edmonton, but don't worry - I really hate the Esks!!!

Hey Laura,

I'm actually from Sherwood Park, I moved here 4 years ago. Love the Oilers! Nice to see someone from back home.

Ha! Should've guessed that an Esks cut would hit an ex-Edmonton area person!

Yeah, the Oilers are awesome. The only reason I despise the Esks is because I'm originally from Saskatchewan and therefore I'm a die hard Rider fan. Die hard Rider fans don't get treated very nicely by Esk fans - GRRRRR!

Take care & good luck with your treatment!
