Diagnostic and braced the same day

#1 Post by seabee »

Hello everyone,

Is it norml to get the records and braces done the same day? I have an appointment to get them done the same day and I'm not sure if that is normal procedure.

Different orthos do things differently. I had my braces put on at the same appointment as my xrays, photos, and impressions.

If mine had taken more than a couple of weeks, I'd chickened out.

I went in for my consult in November of last year. I had my records and braces placed at the same appointment in January.

I went for my consult in January, then in Feb. I had my molds, pics and top braces put on. I guess it just depends on the ortho and what appt.s they have available.
Keep smilin'! :)

I had my eval on a Wednesday and had them braced the next morning. They had an opening the next avail wasn't until the week of Thanksgiving... and that wasn't really what I was wanting to do that week!

I am glad I had mine done so fast because I didn't have time to eat a ton of junk food or just chicken out of getting them.

Now I did have TWO evals on that Wednesday and then called the first office back and told them I wanted to go with them, which I then took first avail.

Personally, I have felt very secure with my process. As far as I know, my office has a lab on site and I was reassured the morning I got mine on that the doctors (there are two and they work as a team) just simply took home my case and got it done the night before. The irony is how one doc did my eval and the other put them on!

Please note though I did not need an expander or use spacers. All of my cavities had been previously filled. The only thing I didn't have time to do was get my teeth cleaned. All of my records had been sent ahead of time or were sent over the same day (can't remember) from my dentist's office, so everything was given the clear okay to go.

I got my braces on the same day as my consultation (it was the second ortho I consulted with and I really liked him and the treatment plan he proposed). They took a panoramic xray before I saw the ortho (free with the consultation) so we sat down and discussed everything with that, and the oral exam, as a reference. I was told my case is pretty simple so he said I was good to go. I was shocked that they could do it so soon, but happy because I was about to die of anticipation for them. I've been waiting my whole life to get braces and I'm so happy I finally have them! :D
