They are off!!! Pictures
I'm just updating this thread with the new picture..to make it easier. LOL
My appt was at 10am, and I left right at 12 ... long two hours.
Nothing hurt, I'm still amazed at how easy the brackets and bands came off... I was worried about though bands. LOL
I need a deep cleaning all around, root canel on one tooth.
I go back next Thur to pick up my retainers.
The retainers will have fake teeth, to replace the missing ones. I can't afford the bridges or implants. Those teeth had already been extracted, back when I couldn't afford dental care/fillings/crowns. (it was cheapest to extract)
Before braces went on
Right after braces went on.
Right before the braces came off
Brace Free!!!!

The missing teeth are back molars.
If you go to the shutterfly link, I have open mouth pictures.
The midline thing bugs me LOL but I'm probably the only one who notices.
Since I was missing two back molars it did limit things.... probably would have extracted two bottom teeth instead of one. Then things would have matched up better.
I've seen some peple have their molars moved up. But he said it couldn't be done for some reason.
Overall I think they look really good.
I've gotten used to them being so straight and it is wierd to see the before. LOL
He also said some bonding would help give one tooth a better shape, and a touch more length...it doesn't match the other tooth like it as much as I'd like... But I need to wait untill after whitening them.
Once they get all the stained glue off, a cleaning, and I start the whitening. I think I'll like it even more.

I think they look fine. I'm also in a similar position - basically almost at the end of treatement and going over and over in my head as to wether I'm ok with it. I also had one extraction on my lower teeth and will not have an aligned midline. I figure if I was unaware that there even was such a thing as a midline until I entered treatment 2 years ago, then I'm ok with it not being aligned now LOL.
Please make sure you post pics once they're off! congrats

I think they look fantastic!! Congrats on your journey soon ending with the metal. Do let us know how your retainers work out, especially with the fake tooth in there.
Will you have something in place so when you are no longer wearing retainers that your teeth will not try and fill in the empty space? Like a metal thingie or something to keep the space if you can't afford a bridge or implant? I don't know what they are called... sorry... Will you just be stuck wearing the retainer for life?
I am actually missing 2 molars as well. One of them was a cavity I could not afford to get filled, then it chipped, and I couldn't afford the root canal and a crown -- so it went bye bye. The other tooth was it's matching partner on bottom, but this one we attempted to save... but it got infected anyway... so out it went. My missing molars are my two back, before where the wisdom teeth I was never born with are supposed to be.

Well I'm almost 30 and I've always wanted/needed braces.
But my mom was a single mom and couldn't afford them.
My husband I and just got to where he'd gotten enough raises to be able to afford the extra month.
We have three kids who might be needing them in the next few years.
So we really can't afford for me to get them again. yk
I've read about other adults in braces for the 2nd or 3rd time, because they didn't wear their retianers causing their teeth to shift.
I could have a metal spacer put in. But I found the bands a pain to clean. So I don't want something else to have to clean like that. LOL
So I plan to wear them during the day for how ever long he tells me I need to. Then wear them for night for a long while. Then at least every other night for life. ykwim

wow - your teeth look fab! I'd be delighted with a smile like that!
Did you have the bottoms of your front uppers filed straight? My teeth are aligning nicely, but due to my night-time grinding, I've managed to "shave" off the bottoms and they aren't level. I noticed in your before pix your uppers weren't level too, but now they are!

I think your teeth look amazing! Totally changed for the better! I know implants are expensive, but I'm missing 2 teeth (congenitally, # 20 & 29) and I plan on getting implants to replace them after ortho re-opens the space for them. Implants truly are the best replacement for missing teeth! Whatever you do, don't do bridges!!! Good luck!
