how long for elastics to fix midline?

#1 Post by HenvY »

perhaps i'm being impatient, but I got given elastics to wear 24/6 to fix my midline about a month ago now and it seems like there has been absolutely NO movement. How long is it supposed to take? :S

Personally, I noticed mine fix almost immediately. It didn't stay that way once I took them off in the beginning. Now, the midline is pretty much fixed (in my opinion) and it has been about 6-7 weeks, despite having my elastics off sometimes. My midline was OFF and noticeable, but now it looks soooooo much better.

Not sure why your teeth are not pulling together... hmm... what does your ortho think?

I have been wearing elastics for 2 months now. The results if any are hardly noticeable!? When fixing the midline you are usually moving a lot of teeth. Suffice to say that you don't fix it overnight.
Everybody is different here. Some people's teeth just move faster. It's enviable but there is unfortunately no way to force movement without damaging the whole process.

I haven't gotten my elastics but I thought to share that I also felt that there was no movement in my teeth at all for the first month. Yet when I compared my original photos (teeth newly braced) to photos taken a month later, and sized them to match, the differences were startling! I suppose it was just that I got used to seeing my teeth daily in the mirror and forgot how bad they originally were?
