Got my date for debanding on the ........ 28TH AUGUST, then i have my essix retainers fitted on the same day.

Cant believe after all the hassle with the op that im actually getting them off in a couple of months and today had my last ever archwire change.

Two slight donwfalls however (isnt there always) - this is presuming my surgeon is happy for this to be done, when i see him again in 3 weeks. Ive also had to accept a slighly less than perfect result on one of my back teeth due to a thinning of the jaw bone (from my previous tooth problems) which has meant that the tooth hasnt moved into quite the position theyd hoped.

Overall tho im a very very happy bunny.

I wouldn't worry about that, my surgeon was happy with mine to be taken off months before my orthodontist was.

How did I miss this, loulou? (guess I was busy). That is GREAT! The light at the end of the tunnel---you soooooo deserve it and I am jealous----I won't get mine off for a year after surgery. I think you should start thinking now of one huge kick a** way to celebrate! Maybe we can make suggestions?????

I cannot believe that you are going to go forth without any metal or bands sticking out of your mouth when you open it---JEALOUS!! I read in my surgeons office that patients get depressed about braces if they are on much past 6 months after surgery- so I think he tries to get the OD to do as much prior to surgery as possible....Good luck and thanks for all of your help~

How do you know until you've tried them in a situation where when you bite you get BOTH breading AND onion at the same time??? Just sayin'!


Okay... hmm... new suggestion.... something British that requires having a perfect bite to actually bite it correctly.... ..... ......

OMG. I can't think of anything!!! Maybe Kebabs, but every time I've eaten those in London from takeaway we ended up using forks. Scones? Those kinda require biting... cucumber sandwiches!?! You can't bite cucumber without the correct bite!!!

Screw it, go get a nice beer in celebration and have some pretzels from the pub:)

Maybe splurge on a really nice bottle of champagne or wine with a friend to celebrate? OR- treat yourself to teeth whitening, facial, spa day, dress to the nines and go to an expensive restaurant you would never normally go to. ---something totally for YOU and definitely on the side of decadant.

I'll take you up on the onion ring idea, Arvensis, AND corn on the cob, and a carmel apple---and all at once would be just fine!

Jackie-i can completley understand the research into braces getting you down after op, as ive become a little disillusioned with them now. My ortho also tries to get as much as poss done beforehand.

Arvensis and Andantae- beer and champagne sound like wonderful ideas, have also considered teeth whitening as an option (depends how bad they look really-too many diet cokes ) and me and my other half are planning to book a holiday in the beginning of September! Well, i figure i deserve it!
