I'm so sorry about not updating in a while. Things have been pretty busy lately. I'm now a high school graduate! I started a new job at Bath & Body Works and I'm just trying to get back into kind of a routine.

My last adjustment was May 27, 2008. I got bigger wires on top and bottom and she tied not just my upper right lateral but also the canine right beside it with wire. I heard mention of powerchains next time. They are just trying to get those two aligned more before we start closing the gaps.

Sorry about the lighting, it's 12:30 am here and I'm using a table lamp. I promise my teeth aren't really that color, I don't think I've stained that much since my ligs were changed.

There you are! The extraction gaps are slowly but surely getting smaller.

Piglet, I haven't forgotten about your request. The last two pictures are of my bite! I will try to take better ones if you want :]

Thanks a lot, Miss Chastity!!! That was a great picture!!! If you get a chance, could you take another one even more from the side (say a complete profile shot, and with the lower edge of the upper front teeth more visable)? I'm not good at taking picture myself, so basically anything you took was already amazing! ;) I actually tried several times to post pictures and the tickers, but were never successful  I could not find a proper website that provides public access. (I feel so dumb not being able to do these blogging thing, but considering I don't even know how to text-messaging, this is not that surprising) Do you have any recommendation of photo uploading websites?

One worry I always had was whether my gaps will be closed completely. I tried to stick my lower jaw forward and try to see where the teeth right next to my gaps will end up to when my overjet is corrected, and could never figure out how I would ever have enough teeth to close the gaps (since I have no lower teeth extracted, just like you). It's really hard for me to describe this without posting a picture. That's why I wanted to see yours. And it seems that we have similar degree of overjet (mine is 6-7mm, measured by myself  ) But the top of my lower front teeth are pretty close to touching my upper front ones near the gum part) Anyway, have you ever thought about this or talked to your ortho about this? Has he ever mentioned anything like shaving the lowers?

Thanks again for still remembering my request!!!

Your teeth look great! Even with the table lamp, your teeth look white. The shape of your teeth are very nice. I hope your gaps keep closing up, even though they are not noticeable from your frontal pics.

Definitely. I wasn't sure how to take the picture and I was thinking, "Well this is me, biting down, taking a picture from the side! I hope this is ok!" haha

photobucket.com You have to sign up for an account, its free. Then just upload the pictures and copy and paste the [ I M G ] code here.

You're welcome!

I sometimes worry about this too, but I hope our orthos know what they are doing! I don't want to be all gappy forever!

How exactly do you measure your overjet? I know my ortho measured around in there but she never told me what the measurements where.
You should get some pictures up here! I would love to see your progress since you say we have some of the same things going on.

Thanks! No, they aren't noticeable from the front but it's the side that kills me :?

Miss Chastity, Thanks a lot for the reply!!! I finally figured out how to upload pictures and started my own braces story. So if you click on my website, you'll be able to see what I'm talking about.

I actually didn't really know what is the exact definition of the overjet size, I have always been measuring myself for the horizontal distance from the lower edge of my top front teeth to the front of my lower front teeth. But anyway, I guess the picture will tell all. So far not too much visible progress yet, but hopefully with time goes by, we'll be able to see some:)

Miss Chastity,
I'm impressed how beautiful your teeth look after 5 months. I can already assume your face is going to look somehow smoother. As I am a complicated case and hesitating I find courage in those photos.
I'w Swedish but living in Paris and I notice people here are not too obsessed with very straight teeth, which is a good thing (straight is good, very straight can look strange. Well, very straight is fine either). But in all cases the various treatments that were proposed to me are planned to be pretty long. The next time I will meet the ortho I chose, I will ask him more informations on that point.

Well my next adjustment is about two weeks away. I sure can't wait because my ligs are getting pretty stained and two of the ligs on my bottom front teeth are like...I don't know, I guess they got twisted when being applied. So the side of the ligs are poking out and causing irritation to my bottom lip. Thank God for wax!

Has anyone had a bad experience with people talking about how you look in braces or the fact that you have them?
A girl I've known for four years said something about how I look in braces, not directly to me though. Something along the lines of: "She looks like s*$% with braces." And a few other comments about my braces that weren't so nice.

I've always been insecure about my teeth and this was something I'm doing all on my own so I can have more confidence. Her comment didn't really bother me but I just don't understand how someone could say that about someone trying to better themselves.

I'm not going to let it get to me. I have a wonderful man in my life who tells me how gorgeous I am everyday and who is always there for me. Heck, he even looks in my mouth every so often to see how my teeth are moving along. He is always saying that my gaps are closing so fast.

Anyways, enough of that! I registered for my college classes today!
:D

Hi Chastity ~
Ugh, whoever is saying mean things about you and your braces is just plain stupid... They HAVE to be envious of you that you had the courage to do this. I cant think of any other reason for their rude comments..because your braces are not bad looking at all!! Its just jealousy  And just wait until their reaction when you get your braces off and you have a perfect smile... :D

I am looking forward to your next picture update - your story has definately inspired me in own braces journey! :D

Wow your teeth are BEAUTIFUL!! I can't imagine why in the world someone would say something like that girl said. She is more than likely jelous. I think that your braces look great. And WAY TO GO for getting yourself a perfect smile. It doesn't matter what anyone else thinks as long as you are happy with it. :D

I agree with the above posters...they are jealous. You are a beautiful girl AND are taking the steps to ensure you have beautiful, healthy teeth for life. Try not to let these comments get you down. Just remember, everyone's entitled to their opinion but you don't have to agree  !

Congrats on getting registered for college...good luck!! :D
Keep smilin'! :)

My third adjustment was yesterday (July 7). I kept the same size wires and am now experiencing power chains. :? My top teeth hurt so bad. I hope I'm not uncomfortable for too long. The chain might be kind of hard to see because it is clear. I'm going to try extra hard to keep stains off now because I don't want some yellow-greenish power chain all across my teeth.

Thank you everyone for all of the support and for following my story :D
