Thanks sweet! and your so right about the days dragging by... its like torture! im such a nerd about it too cause i been counting down the days on my calandar at home and then i would count the days left that i have work and not counting my days off as days and trying to come up with the shortest number of days untill brace day just to make myself feel better about the wait!!
My dad has been giving me hell about it tho... he said this to my mother "Why is she getting them now? we were gonna pay for the whole thing when she was little... that makes no sence... i told her so" I hate that i told you so crap... hes been doing that to me since forever... like i didnt go to college and i been out of high school for about 5 years now and i would have graduated by now and so i decided to go to college next fall and hes dropping that whole i told you so crap cause now i have to pay for it where he was gonna pay for it then... i grew up and now im ready and im not too old for any of this and im gonna try to not let him get me down!...

Hello, Just been reading your story...... and wanna send your lots a love and a huge hug-
I totally understand what you have been through with your teeth... mentally.... its a huge thing knowing you can't smile without being aware that people are looking at your teeth...even if they arnt your think that they are....
You look in the mirror everday, in the bathrrom, bedroom even in the car... looking at your teeth.... unhappy with them and knowing that something needs to be done..... its just doing something about it thats difficult and what people will think .... eg family and friends.
Nobody understands what you go though unless thay have experienced themselves- which is why your Dad does not understand. My Dad is the same- but my mum supports me and so does my boyfriend but I dont think even he really understands 'why ' I have had to do this.
But with all these people its gonna take another year or when the braces come off before they understand... then they will see how happy we are- our lovely smile, our smile with confidence....its only a dream at the moment but becasue we have started the journey its a dream that will now come true.
Your Dad sounds like a tough one to crack.... I am not sure if you will ever make him happy...... but you are doing this for yourself.... dont worry what he has to say. Some people will never understand- all you can do is let him know you still love him.... and move on... its your life and you only live once....
If he cant support you in your choices then thats sad news for him... and one day he will regret not being there for you.....
Well done on starting your journey- it sounds as though you are having to deal with a lot more than me- (I had two teeth out and they were at the bottom sides..... ) but look at it this way, your young and 18 months of your life is nothing compared with a lifetime of a perfect smile....
You have all the support of AW, you ARE doing the right thing.
When the braces are on it will take a few days getting used to them... but stay in touch on AW -were here for support as we all have one thing in common.... you will get through this and will soon see results....
love Sara
PS: I too when counting down only count work days.... its not silly as weekends are fun and dont count as an average normal day.....LOL

Hey girl! So guess what... WELCOME TO DOUBLE DIGITS!!! Wooot! Only 9 days until your journey officially begins! I count it officially when you get spacers b/c the next app is the braces app.
Plus if you make it to the spacers then chances are you will make it to braces.
BTW, where did you find those kick butt avis?

You have LESS THAN A WEEK until you get your spacers in! Isn't that cool!? The spacers app is really fast. I was in and out in like 15 minutes. The braces app was much longer though. Mostly b/c the Dr had a bunch of people to see. The actual bonding process is what took the longest. What they did was 1. fit the molar bands to find the right size 2. "sand" my teeth with some pumice dust stuff, i rinsed, she dried them. 3. glue in the molar bands- they went on the second to last molar instead of the last like I was expecting. 4. brush my teeth with the glue. 5. the ortho came in and the assistant placed the bracket, the ortho positioned it and the other assistant cured it a bit. They did the same thing for each tooth of course. Then came the long part. She had to let the curing light set on each individual bracket for so many seconds- something like 20-30 i think. Seemed like it took forever. Then we had to wait for the ortho to come back to say what size wire. After that she clipped the wire, set it in, and tied it in with more wire. Then came the ligatures. Ane then I was done! Easy as pie. Mmmmm pie! Sounds good.
I think I will post the process in my story thing, too, so that other can read it.

I forgot to answer your questions! I'm sorry!
I wouldn't say it's hard to close my lips, no. It feels funny since I'm not used to having something sticking off of my teeth though.
Eating... ah yes.. eating is... "pleasant".
I was starving when I got home so I ate a bowl of cerial. That was interesting b/c it felt like it all went into my braces. But when I brushed afterwars it wasn't so bad. I had a cheese burger from MickeyD's last night and my teeth hurt so bad to bite into it and chew it. Normally I can inhale them. Yuuuuumy! I loves me some cheese burgers.
But it took forever to eat it last night. Oh my gosh. Chewing the pickle was nearly impossible. I definitely am not goingt o be eating in front of people for some time.

Oh gosh I love pickles, too. Hopefully after my teeth aren't so sensitive I'll be able to eat them again.
I am hoping to lose weight with these things. Of course I say this as I sit here and eat some chocolate icecream!
It's the fat free Breyers though so at least it isn't so fattening.
About the braces going on, it seems like a lot that would take a long time. BUT to me it didn't seem to take that long actually getting them on. I think you'll do fine.
Shoot no your myspace doesn't scare me. It's actually what I'm used to. Most of my friends in HS where goth. I love black and chains and skulls and all that other good stuff. We actually seem like we have a lot in common. So I think that's cool. My hubby is the same way.
