Katie: Thanks chickie! Yes, loooove seeing all the changes(except for the bad ones like my overlapping centrals)!! Have fun in Florida!! :D

Chris:Thank you! Haha...here's hoping that works!

Today my teeth are aching but just my lowers. They still have a bit of straightening to do, although I'm thoroughly pleased with them. I just wish my uppers were the ones aching...then I'd know somethings happening with them. Oh well, no worries. I have faith.

I ran into an aquaintance yesterday who also has braces and she's almost at 2 years. She's getting frustrated and wants them off. Here teeth look really nice so I'm keeping my fingers crossed for her that she gets here debanding date soon.

Well, the weekend is almost upon us!! YAY!! Image I'm sooo looking forward to this weekend as we're planning to spend the night with friends at their new house Saturday and all day Sunday we'll be at the track watching my oldest race his go-kart...I LOVE RACING!! Image

Hope everyone has a happy weekend!! :D
Keep smilin'! :)

Hi Jenny ~

Sounds like a weekend of fun! Hope the weather holds out!

For me, it seems that every couple days, different teeth are sensitive and painful! It's a pain in the butt but at least it means SOMETHING is happening - right?! :?

I, too, have been trying to figure out how to use the cool smilies! If you wanna share the knowledge with me, I'd be GREATLY appreciative! :-**

they are looking really good! And the most important part is that you're happy with the way it's all going!

BVL: Thanks! Nope, the pain only lasted a few days, sort of on and off but it's all good now.

Braced32: Weekend was great but the weather was cooold!! Brrr!Image (Ok, well maybe not THAT cold...hehe) I'll PM you about the smilies.

Ken: WOOT!! YAY JR!! #88 is Number One!!Image

grneydfairy: Thanks! Yes, happy with the lower progress. Read on to see my update on my uppers...not so happy with them :? .

So, tomorrow is 4 months since my upper braces were put on and, although I have some positive changes, I'm still struggling with being happy with them, especially concerning my two front teeth and both canines. I have brackets replaced last adj. 2 weeks ago on these teeth on the left side, but I think my front ones are getting worse, not better. I think my canine has rotated a bit but time will tell (I'm more patient with it since it's farther back in my mouth  ). Here are some comparison pics:
The first one is Day 1, then 3 months and lastly today

ImageImage
Image

The first one is 6 weeks uppers(day one of lowers), the second is today

ImageImage

As you can see in the last 2 pics, I had a gap in the 6 week pic, and now there isn't one so they are overlapping even worse. I don't have a pic to compare from right before my last adj. where they repositioned that bracket but I can tell they're overlapping even more. The worst part about the whole thing is I have to wait until Aug. 13th for my next adj. so that's 2 more months down the drain. Anyone else have or in a similar situation? Should I contact my ortho or just wait it out? Sorry to be such a bummer...Hmmm, maybe a drink would cheer me up. It is Friday after all! Image
Keep smilin'! :)

Hi Jenny,

Don't worry about the overlap, it might be that since your teeth are making sapce for other teeth to move to the right position, your incisors got pushed together.. If you are really worried and you know you will be thinking about it for the next two months, give your ortho a call letting him know whats going on .
I understand you are concerned that the more you wait, the worse it will get....I feel like that sometimes.( i know what its like to wait about 2+ months for an adjustment and having plenty of doubts)

I have almost the same problem with my lower incisors, they overlap, and it seems like its getting worse as well, I mentioned something to the assistand last week when i went for the adjustment and she said not to worry and that they will move.....when? i dont know.

By the way, your teeth are looking good!

I hope you have a good weekend and YAY for Happy Hour!!!

Yeah, teeth are going to look worse while they're moving around, but they'll get back into line. My protrusion got worse and my teeth started to flare more, and I had a bit of an open bite which was made worse. But now, I have no complaints and everything is closing up nicely. Hang in there, it's just a little bit of chaos before order is enforced.

Hey Jenny

I will agree with the others.. despite the overlapping of your front two teeth I think the rest of your upper arch is looking fabulous.. im sure its only a matter of time and they will all be straight and in line..

im only a month in but all of the changes I am see in my mouth so far are not for the better (at least to look at) im trying to be patient and just remember that its going to take some time to straighten out all this crowded mess in my mouth..

If your really concerned talk to your ortho about it...

jenny, your lower arch is looking fabulous :)

I agree with all the other comments regarding the weird overlapping/gaps opening & closing and other general odd looking developments...it's all part of the process.

It's a great thing you're taking pictures along the way so you can always look back and see how far you've come.

You might consider calling your ortho and expressing your concern to see what they say. It never hurts to know more, right?

Happy 4 month braceaversary (a bit late)! I have read many posts stating that tooth position gets worse b4 it gets better. Unfortunately, I can't speak from experience yet. But personally, I would have a hard time waiting for two months for an answer. It it's buggin you - call your ortho. Chin up!

Jenny,

Hey!!!! I'm just reading your updates, and all I can say is WOW!!!! You can see the movement in all of your teeth from 6 weeks to now!!!!

I have a question for you?!?!? For some reason when I got my first adjustment I was fine. Now a week later my teeth are sore?!?! What is all of that about? Does this happen to you as well?

Awww, thanks for all the terrific replies everyone!Image

Flaka: It's nice to know I'm not in this alone. I don't know how people got through braces years ago without the internet and this site! haha! Here's to your teeth getting in line quickly!Image

Miss Smiley: Yep, I'd say chaos is a good, descriptive word. I guess I'm not the most patient person :? . Glad to hear your teeth got sorted out!

braces4astw22: Thanks:) I think I'll try to be patient like you and stick it out a while longer.

insinu8: Thank you! "It's all part of the progress"...that shall be my new mantra! Image

LaLaDee: Thanks for the anniversary wish! I find it hard to believe 1/3 of the year is gone since I got braced. Yes, 2 months seems so long but, at the same time, my next adj. is on Aug. 13th so I don't want it to come too fast...I'd be wishing the summer away Image and summers here in Canada are not very long! lol

callmeswtmisery: Thanks! Yes, I'd say that's normal. I've only had one adjustment(my first 2 appts. were to have my braces on) and I didn't have really any discomfort for the first couple of days after, like I expected. Since then, my teeth have ached on and off, mostly my lower arch. I actually look forward to the aches to some degree because I know something is happening! :D

Well, not much new going on in my mouth. I have yet to run into someone I DON'T know that has braces(adult, I mean). It's amazing how many teens nowadays have them...or I'm just noticing them because I have them.

Ahhh, summer is here!! It's a beautiful, sunny day here so I must go out and enjoy the sun(and get a tan!). I have a whole slew of family coming home this weekend for a week so I'm looking forward to family, fun and food!Image Thanks again to everyone for the support!
Keep smilin'! :)

Just dropping by to say thanks for stopping in!! Thank you for explaining my lovely blue glue thingys, i had an idea that was what they were there for but wasn't exactly sure lol. :D Reading through your story i would definately say don't fret, things will look worse until everything is in its place. I think they look wonderful, they are coming along very nicely and it has to be super exciting to see movement and progress. I can't wait to see some! I hope to see more progress, keep us updated!!! :D

Hi everyone!

Well, it's been a while since I've posted and I'm a few days past 3 months since my lowers have been put on. I had family home for the last 2 weeks so between beaches, pools, amusement parks and bbq's, I haven't had much time to post...just read posts. Not much new going on in my mouth. My upper incisors are still overlapping but I've resigned myself to enjoy the summer and not worry about it. I'll hopefully get some good news about it at my next adj. on August 13th. Oh, and on a different note, I went to rent movies with the kids yesterday and the guy working the counter had braces! It's funny how happy I was to see another adult(whom I didn't already know) have braces. I wanted to ask him so many questions but I didn't say a thing about them. I did see him take a double-take when I first opened my mouth to talk, though!

xOx SwEeTtReAtS xOx: Thanks for the encouraging words! It's nice to know there are so many others to talk to about worries and complaints. :? Glad I could clear up the "lovely, blue glue thingys" for you!! :D

Now for some comparison pics of my lowers:

Comparing month 2 and 3, my canines are almost completely in line with the rest of the teeth(yay!!) but my left central(right in pic)is still sticking out a bit. Those 3 teeth were the worst at the beginning so I'm very pleased with the progress they're making and how rounded my arch has come! Woot! I love my braces! :D
Keep smilin'! :)
