odd lig

#1 Post by fldhkybnva »

i got braced last week. i noticed last night that one of my ligs seems to not be completely around the bracket. that is, it forms a triangle, with a diagonal across the bracket, instead of a square around the whole bracket. the tooth is slightly rotated so i wasnt sure if this was intentional or not to prevent bending the wire. i called the ortho and they cant get me in for a while. so i thought i'd check here to see if anyone has ever had ligs put on this way?

I have the same thing actually, just got braces last Wed. I also noticed that the bracket, part of the wire is kinda bent out (might have happened when I got floss stuck in that tooth area).

I had wondered about the lig though...so it's not a big deal? I'd like to hold off on visits until my next appt. in a few weeks.

i called the ortho and the receptionist had me speak with a technician who said it's fine...although it still worries me because she just knew that they do that sometimes but not if it's intentional in my case. i guess i'll worry if it falls off. my next appt isnt until august 1st.

I get that sort of thing with my ligs all the time on the teeth that need to be/ needed to be rotated some.

I just think it pulls it a certain way as opposed to completely placing the lig on all four corners.

I have an odd lig too. I just noticed it this morning, it's really pulled to one side, on a very sideways tooth. It looks like it is pulled so far, it might pop.

What on earth are these things made of anyway?

I was going to call the ortho tomorrow, but I guess I will wait till the next adjustment.

This site must save thousands of calls to orthos all over the world....
take care
