Thoughts for People Considering Invisalign
I've been through the whole process, this is what I reccomend...Please choose the payment method, it gives your provider much more incentive to make you happy at the end. If you still owe $1500 when you're done, he will be more likely to do more! Know what your contract includes.... a clincheck video, refinements (most posters on this board have needed them),possible treatment in fixed braces, and what kind of retainers. Ask about attachments and IPR (shaving of the tooth enamel). Understand that you are moving teeth, which involves time and pain. It's a commitment to time and energy on your part. Alot of brushing and flossing, cuts down on the snacking. (which involved a 25 lb weight loss for me yay!) As for the aesthetics....none of it bothered me at all, a few spit bubbles....a few attachments meant so little to me to have straight teeth. Actually, no one is so interested in your teeth that they will even notice. It's all worth it in the end, just research and read every page on this forum, know what you are getting yourself into. Knowlege is the key!

Thanks Meryaten! I've just heard stories on another forum where the ortho didnt want to do even ONE refinement. It never had to be an issue with my ortho ,but I always felt like if needed, I had some bargaining power. He offered a lousy 3% discount for cash up front. I asked about a 10% discount, he wasnt about to go for that. 3% just didnt quite do it for me. I put my money in a CD that paid 5%.It was an interest free loan in my eyes. I made a few bucks in interest instead of him LOL It's just one of those things I have learned with experience.
Loosing weight?
You people that are losing that much weight must have beening really big snackers. I have had mine in about 9 weeks now and probably have lost 3 pounds.
I am also in Invisalign and I love it. No pain at all (just a slight discomfort on new aligners for few hours), I can take it off and clean my teeth, they don't show. It's true my snacking times are done now, but I wear a tooth brush/tooth paste "combo" with me all the time and I have no issues with this either. I eat and then clean
