:: Since SARPE is exactly like Lefort 1, is blindness a possible risk? I know its REALLY REALLY rare, but was anyone worried about blindness? That is what I'm freakin out about::
1. Are there any risks to SARPE? Are they rare?
I don't remember all of them, but I didn't have any complications. I still have some numbness, but it is almost gone.
--> Just numbness? That isn’t so bad
I think I would find that kind of funny after a while haha.
2. when you wake up, do you have any tubes in side of you? (besides the IV)
I only had the IV which was taken out an hour or two after the surgery.
-->OH that’s great! I heard from another person that he still had the breathing tube when he woke up (the one that goes from your nose to your belly?) and he said I’m going to have a sore throat for a while, so I am expecting that.
3.Do you teeth become very wobbely after surgery?
Yes, but it doesn't last to long. Eating is hard for a week or two then starts getting easier and more solid feeeling. It doesn't really feel wobbly. I felt like I was trying to chew with marshmallow teeth.
-->Haha :p
I was worried that they would be so wobbely that all of them were going to fall!
4.Where do they cut you exactly? In your gums?
Yes. accross the front and along your back molars (if it was like mine). Right at the very top where your gum meets the inside of your lip. I am not sure how big the area cut was -it was to sensitive for me to look. I had lots of stiches. Mine never rally hurt, they were sensitive and itchy.
-->You know know how much more relived I am to know they cut your gum and not the actual palate. You even experience inchiness with mouth surgery? Odd. I know after my back surgery my scare was inching sooo badly!
5. How long is the surgery?
I think not longer than an hour or two.
-->
Oh thats not to bad
Do you think he has enough space to operate??
Yes, You need to do this, You'll be so happy afterward!
-->I think you and everyone else is right… I think a bit of pain and some more ugliness for a year or two is worth it.
7.Will my face structure come out a little bit more?
Mine did slightly. I like the way I look, People say I look happier now. you'll probably see a subtle difference. Your jaw is very narrow, so you face will probably look fuller afterward.
-->Will my face structure come out a little bit more?
That would be great! My face is a little flat-ish, so I will be looking forward to that haha.
Is it possible for my front teeth to move over my bottom a little?
I am not sure what you mean, but your upper jaw will be wider and crossbite wil be fixed either immediately or with braces.
-->Oh what I meant is that, my front that a little bit behind my bottom teeth, my surgeon wanted me to do Lefort 1 and I am trying my best to get out of it, so I was hoping SARPE would help my front teeth(on the top) come over my bottom teeth.
Eh.... Not to thrilled about the gap or cross bite, I'm gonna have some social problems for a while haha.
8. Any thing I should know?
Read the SARPE thread fro the beginning. It will answer everything, and always feel free to ask anything you are worried about. There are many of us here that have had this surgery.
-->I will most deffinatly do that. I was so excited when I found this site.
Thank you so much for the help!
After surgery, I want to make a blog so I can help out others who need SARPE!
3 more days until the surgery and 3 more until its over =D
Thanks Agian!
