Poppin tray in 1 week early

#1 Post by Chris1960 »

I'm on tray 1 of 23 and I'm a week in. I'm thinking of trying on next weeks tray. Can I just try them on and put them back? Better yet can I leave them on?

I suggest you leave them on for the entire time - your ortho knows best. As tempting as it sounds, you dont' want to sacrifice messing up the plan and having to start over. I have heard horror stories.

Remember (as someone once told me on this board) - slow and steady wins the race!!

I would definitely not suggest trying the second set on and then taking them off. I can't imagine that all that movement-putting in the new set and then putting the old ones back on are good for the teeth. I would worry about the teeth getting lose or something.

Devushka,
I took a look at your blog. Your teeth look great by the way. By watching your video and skipping from the beginning to the end you can really see the difference.
I learned two things.
1) Don't assume they are going to fix my midline.
2) I'm not so sure it matters that much. I don't think anyone would notice unless you pointed it out to them.

I meant to call my ortho today and ask for a copy of my clincheck. I guess I better do that.

Your teeth have to have time for the osteoclasts to form new bone to anchor the teeth. Please follow your orthos times, if you don't, then dont moan about any setbacks you might cause. You are a week in and ready to cheat? It's really not worth it, you are only cheating yourself.

I had to skip an entire tray this last time around. Just a few hours after I changed from upper#21 to #22, I accidentally ran over and destroyed the aligner. Called my ortho and he told me to just put in #23 and wear it for twice as long. It actually didn't hurt THAT bad when I put it it since I went slowly.

I agree with everyone else on this, don't cheat.

I just started four days ago on my first trays and my aligners don't feel as tight anymore.

My ortho said that there are actually 2-3 days of movement with each tray then there is plenty of time left for the bone to catch up. In my case I was told to wear each set of aligners for two weeks at a time. When you move your teeth you are breaking down bone and that bone needs time to regenerate.
