Lilmissmups Journey has began! Now with pics! Pg 2

#1 Post by lilmissmup »

Hello,

I haven't posted on this board for a long time but i have finally begun my journey to straight teeth! I joined a year ago when i was first thinking about getting braces fitted (am 23, live in england) and i have had my x rays, consultations, 2 fillings and today i had my first 2 extractions so there is no going back now! My brace date is 5th August.

I have been bleeding quite a lot today but think thats because i didn't apply enough pressure, its finally stopped now though.

I would post pictures of my mouth today but all the piccies i am trying to take don't come out right, how do you photo your teeth???

Well i have had my other 2 teeth out yesterday and feel like i have been punched in the face still!

Was not as good as a experience as the first time as had 2 Molars out.

The top one didn't want to come out and the bottom one needed more injection so when i left my eye wouldn't stay open, i felt sick and nearly passed out in the street!

But i knew how to control the bleeding this time so that stopped easily and i managed to eat sausages and chips mashed up on the now nearly healed side of my mouth.

As soon as the pain killers wear off though its agony!

Elastics fitted 29th July so got a month to rest and heal now at least.

Sorry to hear you had a bad time with your extractions :(

Mine were also pretty bad, having the upper premolars both snap, and the destist had to chop, dig, file at it to get the roots out

I've since got my upper arch braced, and I can tell you with certainty; the worst part of over! As long as you follow the instructions from your dentist, you should avoid infections and dry socket, which is the largest risk at this stage.

Congratulations on getting started, it really is a great investment in yourself! :D
Upper brace on 23rd June 2008
Lower brace on 27th August 2008
Expected treatment time: 30 months
Braces removed on 6th June 2010

Have had my spacers on for 2.5hrs now and no pain or discomfort, am hoping it stays this way!

Only a week now until the big day!

I am quite excited though.

I am going to see if my OH can take some piccies of my teeth so i can look back and see the difference :D

Just a quick post tomorrow is the big day!

Slightly scared, the thing i am worried about most is not being able to eat the foods i love.

Can see myself investing in a blender!

I am feeling lucky though as have had no pain whatsoever with the spacers and haven't lost any either :D

Well i am 19 hours in now and its sore and feels strange but not really in pain.

One of my top teeth is overlapping another and that is causing me the most pain, i put a bit of dental wax on it it earlier and it was much better as smooth.

My lips are so dry though, i am putting on lip balm constantly.

I am off to the pub with my friend tonight and have no idea what i can drink thats not too fruity or acidic.

I love Red Bull, i can see myself getting cravings for that :(

Ooopss just noticed that i have broken one of the ligatures already, the top bit is missing where i have been putting the dental wax on.

Just had lunch and brushed my teeth and noticed

Do i need to ring my ortho and get it looked at?

Well 4 days in now and getting used to them, i went yesterday and got a new band fitted so more comfortable now although i have wax on that bracket anyway.

One of my molar bands is starting to rub too so put wax on that today.

Keep looking at my teeth and seeing if they have moved, i think they might have but then i am probably imagining it

Hi Ken,

Thanks for reading!

No more mishaps so far! LOL. 5 days in now out of god knows how many!

Well i experienced my first eating in public yesterday, had a jacket potato with coleslaw as nice and soft. I also managed to eat garlic bread with cheese (cut into tiny pieces with a knife and fork) and scampi and soft curly fries for tea last night, eating is getting better.

I was reading tips on how to take picture so i will post some later. Although they may be a bit rubbish!
