power chains
i went to my first adjustment on the 7th and i got power chains placed on the top and bottom. rubber bands on the bottom and wires on the top due to the possibility of the ceramic breaking from the rubber power chain. these power chains are no joke - I instantly felt the soreness and pain a couple of hours after leaving the ortho. I'm sure like most ortho cases, sensitivity to adjustments vary per individual but is it just me that got so sore so shorty after getting chained?

Your right about the pain being individual. I got very lucky in that sense.
My braces have never hurt, even when they put the strongest powerchain/elastic combo on.
When i have a cavity i dont even get them frozen, the drilling doesnt seem to hurt usually.
Id hate to have dental pain throughout having braces, i feel sorry for anyone who does

im a fan of power chains. they work really well with my teeth. At one point I even had 2 power chains on top. My pain varies. Sometimes its sore and other times its minor.

WoW. thats interesting! I just got powerchains put on top on the 5th, and I didn't experience any pain. I thought it was weird because it seems like everyone I know with them or had them said they had pain..
Maybe its because they did not change the wire?

I just got TWO new powerchains on bottom, however they go across like half of my teeth and up and around brackets - not over the brackets. It is really strange. They are literally tied down in back on my premolar and then up and around a bracket, then they are anchored down in front of my lower canine. They create a little "hill" type shape. I have one red and one blue - they are cute, but stuff gets stuck in them badly!

The first time I got powerchains they hurt really bad. Towards the end when your getting ready to get your braces off, powerchains dont hurt at all =] They hurt because the roots are straightening up rapidly. But I guess it depends on your pain tolerence. Isn't it surprising how gaps can close in matter of hours?!
I also have had great results from the power chains that I got first week of this month. It has only been a couple of weeks and I can already tell a significant change with my left lateral incisor that is turned inward due to minor crowding. It's awesome!purpleteeth wrote:Chains do hurt, as I have a powerchain on bottom. The pain I felt after it was put on was much worse than a normal adjustment for me - but the results sure came a lot faster.

Powerchains hurt bad!!
I had my adjustment on the 25th, got thicker archwire ontop and powerchain on the bottom and I can't eat and chew properly until now
It was the most painful adjustment so far... it reminds me of how I felt the first few months with braces
What does getting powerchain mean? does that mean that I'm almost done???
