Tooth Contouring/ Reshaping

#1 Post by dagwoman »

Hi all,

I'm sitting just at the one year mark in braces, and things are progressing really well (see the WWW link for my story and photos). I'm wondering if any of you can give me some input about tooth contouring or reshaping. My two front teeth are a little uneven and this has become even more obvious since getting braces. I wanted to know if anyone has experienced something similar, and if so, how your ortho corrected it. Do you think my ortho will reshape my two front teeth so that they're even? Should I bring it up at my next adjusment? Here's a photo taken just after my last adjustment, on July 22nd I believe.

Thanks in advance for any replies,

DW :)

I'll be honest with you...I can't see anything wrong with your teeth! If it is bugging you, bring it up with your dentist...but I think being braced that we're all a little over attentive with our teeth and we sometimes see something we think needs corrected when really it isn't obvious to others.

Hi,

Ive had braces on for jus over 3 months now and i have a gap in my front teeth that i never had before. The ortho told me that he will fix that eventually. Im sure if u voice your concern he will fix it.

I have to say I can't really see the unevenness either. :)

Regardless, I think you should definitely ask your ortho at your next adjustment. Always ask your ortho if you have questions. :)
Lower braces: 7/1/08
Expander installed: 7/8/08
SARPE: 7/15/08
First adjustment for lowers: 8/5/08
Expander tied: 8/11/08
Upper braces: 8/28/08
Lefort I & BSSO: 1/8/13

Your teeth look fabulous!

I do understand wanting a little recontour and I'm glad to hear that most orthos will do it. I will need to have it done, as well, along with slight gum recontour.

Wow! Your teeth are beautiful!
Most likely the ortho will straighten/even the bottoms out when your braces are ready to come off. You'll have a really nice straight line.
Very nice teeth!!!

Thanks for your speedy replies (and words of encouragement!) everyone, particularly Maverick for that very enlightening video. I think I'll leave it until closer to the end of my treatment, unless my ortho brings it up.
